Buzzing for Charity

A warning to Irma (currently trapped in Sweden without access to Starbucks): I'm going to talk about coffee again.

Starbucks has begun working with the Starlight Children's Foundation. They're running different promotions in different areas. For instance, in the DC area, all money earned from their Gingerbread Lattes on Wednesdays goes directly to the foundation. So, check it out and see what they're doing in your area. If you need a caffeine fix, it might as well help someone else too.

How utterly bizarre- I was just thinking this morning how I have a Starbucks that's less than a block from me and I never go there (I'm not a coffee drinker). For charity, however, I'll have to go over there and check it out.

I read it anyway, being how it wasn't actually ABOUT the coffee ;)

They've been doing that for a few years at Christmas time. In my store, last year, we collected new toy donations for them. People brought in some really nice toys for the kids. I guess it helped that I worked in a town with a lot of money and SAHMs who spent their days at Starbucks and wanted to bring in some really good toys for the donation.

Afterwards, a couple of the employees (not me since I was with my parents) spent Christmas Eve (or was it Day?) at a local hospital handing out the toys to the children. I heard it was quite lovely :-D
