Why I Don't Take Days Off

Whenever I take a random day off work without any real purpose, I'm always reminded why I don't do this a lot - I get nothing done! There are about a million un-fun things I could be doing now but I certainly don't want to do un-fun things on my day off, do I? No. So how about the fun things? So far today I've:

- Continued reading one book;
- Started a second book;
- Run to Best Buy for something for my new TV;
- Hooked up my new TV;
- Gotten all of my ties and other random crap out of my car;
- Blogged a bit;
- Answered email;
- Watched some TV; and
- Listened to some tunes.

but I haven't been able to actually do any of these things for more than five minutes at a stretch. What a pain in the ass I can be. At least I haven't smoked.

Ha-ha! You're right, looking on the bright side, at least you haven't smoked yet this year. Six years is a LONG time to have quit...at least you know that it's possible since you've successfully done it before. (Does going that long without smoking lend itself to the phrase "Once a smoker, always a smoker?" Like you'll always crave them, even after giving them up for so long? Hmmm...)

I don't like taking random days off either. If I schedule a day off, it's usually because I want to do something special or I'm going out of town. Otherwise I almost feel like I "wasted" my time.

Good job on the no smoking thing. It's not easy. You know, I actually enjoy random days off..although they are very few and really far between, I usually just end up fooling around or going for a drive looking for photo ops :o)

I'm going to quit smoking this year too.
:: lights up ::

Leter, I'll get to it later as soon as some of the strees is gone. I did quit last year for a bit over a week, pretty much 'cold turkey'. I started back by accident, I was on the phone and my husband had left his pack on the counter, without thinking I lit one up and was half through before I even thought about what I was doing.

Best of luck to you with your quit. I'm rooting for you and if it goes well, (if after a week you still have hair and haven't started pulling other people's out) I'll crunch up mine too. : )

I never take random days off. Other than my holidays, I've only taken two days off in the year I've worked here. Once was because I had a bit much to drink and was too drunk to go to work (that was not my proudest moment) and once I was so sick I almost went to the hospital, and yet I had to wait THREE DAYS before I was able to get someone to work for me so I could take a sick day. bitch bitch moan lol. But if I did take a random day off, I'd do what you've done. Nothing lol

Proud of you about the smoke-free. Mind control, have more sex!!. And by the way, I still write checks. ( electronically challanged, but smoke free for 7 months)
Don't forget a long hot bath, or is that just a girl thing.

That's so funny, I do the same thing - doing alot of fun stuff on my days off, but accomplishing nothing heroic... a little of this, a little of that... five minutes here, five minutes there... so much to do, and no time to do it all. Time just seems to fly faster and faster the older we get, doesn't it?

Also, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only person who reads more than one book at the same time!! LOL I have four on my bedside table... depending on my mood. My family can't believe it... [they don't read at ALL, so tell me who is crazier??] lol

Sounds like a good day to me! WTG on not smoking. I've read several bloggers who are trying to quit.
