Weekend Movie Recap

After a weekend of home improvement, we decided to spend this last one relaxing as much as possible. We went to one movie, and Netflix was kind enough to deliver three more. Here's the recap:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
I'm not a huge Jim Carey fan. I'm also not the biggest Kate Winslet fan. I liked the look of this movie though and I'd heard good things. Luckily the praise I'd heard seemed well-deserved. Its trippy, well-acted and perhaps most importantly, thought-provokingly nice. We need more nice movies.

Ten Things I Hate About You.
Yes, a chick-flick. But overall, really not a bad one. Sure, it was a cheesy Shakespeare adaptation but there were some redeeming qualities. Not a lot...but some. This should be on you when the rental place doesn't your first or second choices, remember that Chris said it was okay. Not great, but better than infomercials.

I mentioned a month ago that I didn't enjoy The Godfather and from your comments, I picked up that you guys not be real fond of mob flicks. But I've always enjoyed Goodfellas. My wife hadn't seen it so I decided we needed to remedy that. It was as good as I remembered. Plus, I'd never realized that casting for The Sopranos relied so heavily on the cast of this film. Over and over again, we kept seeing some very familiar faces. Its a mob-classic.

Jeepers Creepers II.
It sucked. But in my defense, I assumed it would suck. It wasnt like the first one was a masterpiece or anything. But this? This was total crap. Actually, it drags crap to a whole new, lower level. If you want a movie to point and laugh at, this is the one for you. If you want a decent horror film, skip it.

I saw "10 Things..." this weekend and enjoyed it verily. A good fluff movie. But then, "...Shrew" was always my favourite Shakespearean play (along with Othello--what's with Julia Stiles and adaptations?).

So um.... On "Eternal Sunshine...." Is it like "Being John Malcovich" in the sense that maybe um... like, smoking some herbal stuff might be a good idea before the movie? Not that I would do that. I'm asking for a friend.

The only film I've seen of those four is Ten Things I Hate About You. While it'll never win any awards, I did think it was cute. Better than most of the teen flicks being churned out these days. I found it odd that the soundtrack was almost entirely 80s music, though.

Yeah for 'Eternal Sunshine'!! I am so glad you liked it! Did you cry? No, seriously. Tell me.

I liked 10 things, I can't say it is my all time favorite but dor a weekend movie fest I'd pick it.

Watched Jeepers Sunday and I liked it, it was scarey as hell but it was pretty good.
