Maybe they advertised a garage sale and aren't having one? The newspaper here screws up addresses all the time, so people end up with an endless stream of yard-salers for no reason. :)

I say drugs. Has to be. Unless there's a scavenger hunt going on -- and the first car got the prize/note/clue -- the rest saw nothing and left immediately... Sort of like that show ... I can't remember what it was called - where the teams went around the world looking for clues and doing little competitions to see who gets to a specified destination first...

Maybe they are selling a major piece of furniture?
