Halloween Road Trip

I'm so citified (or suburbified, I guess), that I forget a short drive can bring me to this...

We crossed the Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia borders today for a little road trip to Harper's Ferry. And we had a gorgeous day for it. Even for getting lost on the backroads of Maryland. My gadget-freakery finally paid off though - my brand new cell phone got us hooked up to the Web and gave us directions before we could be hijacked by any rogue hillbillies. Its nice to know, however, that there's a land that exists not too far away (bout a half an hour, give or take) that isn't filled with zero-lot-line houses, condos and mini-malls.

Ever think about selling your stuff? I mean, you are good so why not make a little $$ on the side. Fall is obviously one of the best times of the year to take nature shots.

Gorgeous shots! Glad the rain went away so you and Beth could go out to play. :) Happy Halloweenie!

Wow - I agree with Colby start earning some cash off your photos - they are fantabulous! You and your wife take some amazing trips. I have to say I am jealous. With opposite work schedules it has been weeks since my husband and I had more than a few hours together.

Hey.. come up to NY. Our fall foliage could beat the living crap out of your fall foliage anyday.

OH CRAP! I notice that it WAS in NY! Well I meant in Buffalo. We would kick those trees' ass.

Great pictures of "Fall" in general. You do good work (hehe)

Those photos are GORGEOUS. Makes me miss Virginia in the fall. :(

Lovely pictures, beautiful color! What kind of camera?

A couple of times a year my husband and I drive out to Harper's Ferry and just enjoy being in the country. There's a nice park on the Maryland side where you can walk along the river. You do have to go by some scary, shack-y hillbilly looking houses to get there though.

On a separate note, I'm very impressed to see you listening to Catatonia! I didn't think anyone else in the US knew about them. That Cerys has a cool voice, doesn't she?

Lucky Dog, I drive half an hour I get Huntsville or Houston if I'm lucky. Bah

Great photos --- nothing like a ride in the country to clear out the head... most of the fall colors are gone where I live -- it won't be long before the now flies!

Great shots, thanks.

Beautiful pictures! What kind of camera do you use? My boyfriend is a photographer (well, I guess not offfically, but that is what consumes him), and he loves his D-70. Also? I love Harper's Ferry! My parents took a road trip on their bike there (from Pennsylvania) last weekend.
