The Face Sleeper

The first time she did this, it kinda freaked me out...

...then we just figured she like to sleep on her face. To complete the mental picture, throw in a little (okay, a lot) snoring. One of the many hazards of working from home...the snoring, face-sleeping cat.

Is it wrong that I just want to tip her over? It is, isn't it? *sigh*

i thought it was her tail end for a moment

Posted by: judy at January 11, 2005 5:24 PM

awww... sweet kitty! I can't imagine that that is comfortable though...

Posted by: Snidget at January 11, 2005 5:47 PM

"the snoring face sleeping cat" LOL how cute!

Posted by: soniclibra at January 11, 2005 5:54 PM

Heeee. I heart sleeping cats.
Maybe she figured out that this is the best way to block out the light?

Posted by: Kitty at January 11, 2005 5:59 PM

Maybe she likes the warmth of her breath? Too cute!

Posted by: Amber at January 11, 2005 6:02 PM

LOL! Cleo does the same damn thing! I can't help but crack up every time too.

Posted by: Bayou at January 11, 2005 6:07 PM

Well how else would she keep her nose warm while sleeping?? Sometimes I wonder about you, Chris. ;-P

That is so cute. And, you made me feel less bad about posting pictures of my cats. So thank you!

Posted by: Kerry at January 11, 2005 6:31 PM

She looks quite comfy.

Posted by: Kelley at January 11, 2005 6:32 PM

Cats sure do some strange things LOL! That is too cute. My cats sleep together a lot. My big cat also tends to stretch out on the bed to let you pet him...and fall off!

Posted by: Nina at January 11, 2005 6:46 PM

I always think my cats look like chickens when they do this.

Yours does too.

Posted by: jenorama at January 11, 2005 8:28 PM

I know this is wrong but all I can picture is me creeping up and blurting "BOO!" Sorry.

Posted by: Colby at January 11, 2005 10:40 PM

OMG Sooo cute... but yeah Cow, er Kitty tipping anyone?!

Posted by: amy at January 11, 2005 11:05 PM

My cat, Claudius, can sometimes be found in this very creepy sleeping position; he's usually stretched out and then twisted halfway with one paw over his head and the claw hooked in the carpet. This pulls one eye open and he sleeps with his mouth open in a rictus. And the kicker? I swear, he's not breathing! We call it "the dead cat position" and it freaks us out EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Posted by: etherian at January 12, 2005 2:29 AM

It's a cat-loaf!

Posted by: Michelle at January 12, 2005 7:51 AM

When my cat Bela did that, we called it "meatloafing".

Posted by: Dave at January 12, 2005 9:48 AM

Oh my god. My cat does that! I thought she was a freak. She likes to sleep on top of the toilet because we have one of those toilet lid cozy, fuzzy things on it. She climbs up there, lies in what I like to refer to as the meatloaf position like Dave does. Then it's like she doesn't have the will power to hold her head up anymore, she face plants just like your cat. Weird. I'm so posting a picture of my cat doing this when I get home tonight.

Posted by: myllissa at January 12, 2005 11:21 AM

we ave one that sleeps on his face too. still haven't figured it out. mnifests in all sorts of positions - on his side, face pushed into the couch arm or me, on the floor, cat tree...etc etc. i just don't see how that's COMFORTABLE!

Posted by: colleen at January 12, 2005 12:06 PM

AHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
Hillarious!
Hopefully she lays her head down softly when she falls in a deep sleep... and not just "konk!!!" flat on her face! OUCH! LOL

So cute... My "Gizmo" doesn't sleep on his face... but he does the ballerina position very cute... ya know, where they hug their legs??? it's so cute...
He does sit on that position though, like yours... and I tell my hubby, "Oh... Gizmo's getting ready to lay an egg!" LOL

Too cute! Thanks for sharing

OMG! She's too farging cute!!!
My husband calls that the "turkey" position, (because of their haunches), it reminds him of thanksgiving turkeys... Now that I think about it, that's just. plain. wrong.

That is just so cute. I love cats. It is a cat, isn't it?

Posted by: cassie-b at January 12, 2005 3:54 PM

That ia just a beautiful (and futty) photo. I love the lighting.

Posted by: Michelle at January 12, 2005 3:56 PM

Ok I'm late in seeing this photo, but that is pretty darn funny.

Posted by: Swt GA HunnyB at January 13, 2005 8:16 AM

Oh, how cute! I have 3 cats (I had 4 at one point) and they all did this. I never understand how they can breathe...

Posted by: Spring at January 13, 2005 2:06 PM

Ack, that's so cute and hilarious all at the same time. One of my cats sleeps like that. Sometimes she'll even rest her front paws over her eyes. Hee.

Posted by: Fraulein N at January 13, 2005 6:24 PM

haha just reading that gave me one of those deep-throated laughs. thanks.

Posted by: Maureen at January 13, 2005 9:03 PM

Hahaha! Simba does the same thing! It's the snoring that bothers my most, especially when he does his snoring, face-sleeping on Sweety's pillow right next to Sweety's ear act.

Posted by: Sweety at January 14, 2005 3:43 PM

Our cat does the SAME THING. I thought it was adorable, if a bit weird. Then I worried it was too cold in the house, turned up the heat... and she STILL did it. :)
