Thursday Is The New Friday

Ok, so, maybe Thursday isn't really the new Friday but it is for me this week at least. I've worked a lot this past month so I'm taking a little time off. To do what, you ask? No clue. I'll figure that out in the morning. My Thursday, however, is all about meetings...starting at 8:30 this morning and ending around 3:00. They'll all be better than yesterday's though. I'm going to have bad dreams about that one for a while.

In an effort to get caught up on my email this morning, I checked out what got caught up in my spam filters. Have you ever noticed the names these things come from? Faustino Dumas, distant cousin of Alexandre no doubt, gave me a nice head's up about stock as did other concerned folks Guadalupe Chambers, Elvira Fair and Jamie Benitez. Juraj Aragon, who may or may not be a character from Lord of the Rings, thought it important that I have some Viagra. Co-workers Shimmel Schriber and Sheree Parr felt strongly about it too. Pamala Xiomara figured I might want to balance the Viagra out with some Vicodin (hell of a combination - "I'm horny but could care less!"). Software retailers apparently love me too - special shout-outs to Sherman Coates, Franklin Bragg and the one-named Fishbien. Who comes up with this stuff?

I am so sorry about your crappy meeting yesterday, and yet simultaneously impressed by your ability to incorporate Alexandre Dumas into your post.

heh! i almost spewed coffee at the viocodin and viagra bit. :P meetings suck, but 3 day weekends rule - so it kinda evens out. hope your day goes by quickly and as painlessly as possible.

marketing people who are really desperate.

also, vicodin, not that impressive, I personally prefer percocet or methadone - but maybe i just have a higher drug tolerance :)

Hee, Fishbien. Yeah, that's the part that made me laugh out loud. He sounds like a deejay or something. Enjoy your time off; you deserve it!

Fishbien? Is that like a 'good fish'? It's OK...i get numerous emails for Cialis. There is a Mohamed Ho that is offering deals on prescription drugs if anybody is interested...I also have Chip Foose sending me email...maybe I can get on the show....

I think that when I write my best selling novel, I'll take all my character names from spam.

Well in three weeks, Thursday will be my new Friday for three months...its actually quite nice having them off in the summer :)

My spam folder didn't have as good of names, but a guy by the name of Magnus desire to supply me with some kind of watch! Never money...oh well...

Seriously, do those spammers really think someone is dumb enough to respond to their emails? Like anyone would be thinking, "Oh yeah, let me get some of that Viagra from a completely unreliable source that's spamming me."

I got an email a few weeks ago from Pope John Paul, right after he died. Apparently, he visited an internet cafe in the sky specifically to invite me to buy his book. Is that a miracle? Should I have set up a shrine around the computer?

Enjoy your day off tomorrow!

Thursdays are my new Fridays as well. Enjoy your long weekend!

Well, at least you don't 50 emails a day from the likes of Dkimbe Omfufu or Zacharias Mogadishu or any of the other officers of the International Bank of Nigeria/Zimbabwe/Zamunda telling you that you have $1,000,000 waiting for you in Africa and all you have to do is fly to Africa with a check for $5000 to claim it.

i get an extra day off this coming monday [shhh don't tell my boss as i am calling in sick from CA]. I get to fly out on a red eye to the OC only to get into a car & drive to Phoenix to see Bruce Springsteen with my Suisse! I also am going to see Bruce tonight in Dallas too sans Suisse. He's jealous I get to see him before he does but ooh well we're both going to see him twice anyways. lol

have a great mini break.

Oh spammers, how I love your raffish charm.

I wish I was you. I still have to work tomorrow.
I have a week off after that though!

Think about it, they have pills to make you aroused for up to 36 hours, after that, vicodin might not seem like such a stretch!

I think spammers get a Name-O-Matic program to go with their RandoMart: the Radomized Email Address Generator. So you log in to RandoMart, and the Name-O-Matic would ask if you'd like to use a new name, like Ju Bin Farteen or Ima Dumas, or stay with Fishbien.

Something like that.

Don't hate me. I know I am going to jinx it now but I haven't gotten spam in a really long time. My spam boxes are all empty. I can't tell you why. Strangely, I have a number of email addresses and they seem to be immune. *crossing fingers* How is that possible? Maybe instead of God making me wealthy, he just made me spam-free. It's a mystery to me. Please don't send my email address to any evil spammers!

HOWEVER, I do check my boss's email and he gets it from time to time. But they don't even come cleverly disguised anymore, they are just come from "horny slut" who wants to... yada, yada, yada. I don't get it!

90% of the time you're in meetings. Does your company ever do any work? Or are those meetings some magical force of the cosmos that keeps the Universe functioning properly? If you quit the meetings, would Bush's head fall off?

Posted by: etherian at April 28, 2005 4:31 PM

i have toorrow off too!

Posted by: lizabetty at April 28, 2005 5:46 PM

"...distant cousin of Alexandre no doubt..." -- Ha! Nice. Even my feeble work-week-blown mind could appreciate that one. :) Have a wonderful day off.

Mr. Bravenet loves to email me. I gotta get me some spam filter.

I used to like SPAM, the corned beef kind!

Posted by: mrsmogul at April 29, 2005 8:02 AM

i just got one from Savannah Crump congratulating me... on what i don't know. perhaps on the great mortgage rates and low prescription prices i've been getting?
