Nothing (And Blog-Noir)

Good morning, Internetwebosphere. What do I have in store for you today? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. I'm like a washed up two bit hooker running from a pimp with a Greyhound ticket to the next dingy street corner in the next run down town. Nothing.

Excuse me. Where the hell did that come from?

I've got so much of nothing, I can't even seem to form coherent sentences. At a very early morning conference call today? Stringing words to form actual, real-life sentences was beyond my power. So I tried meaningful glances and animated gesturing instead. Until I realized one essential truth of conference calling - no one can see you.

A mental holiday would make me happy right about now. What would do it for you today? If you could wish one thing into being, what would it be?

Posted by Chris at June 9, 2005 9:46 AM

I wish you mental peace. It would definatly make me less miserable to take a mental holiday. If I could wish one thing into being it would be a whole heart for my son.

You've put me in mind of Gershwin's song from "Porgy and Bess"--"I've Got Plenty of Nothing". I once got rather irritated with my husband for singing it?! Happy mental holiday! Vicki sent me...

Hang on Chris- after Thursday comes Friday and that's as close to the weekend as you can get.
I need a good thunderstorm to break the heat and set the ions straight and I need people to send CDs to...
Bill! Thanks for asking.

I would wish for our new house to be finished already! And then I would wish some mental peace for you :)

Posted by: DaFFy at June 9, 2005 10:11 AM

Hey I actually had to go to Greyhound the other night, downtown Seattle at midnight... a little scary. ;)

I'm washed up too, I'll keep you company. I've been trying to write a post for a week now and it's not even close to being done. If I had to wish for one thing it would be sleep.

Posted by: Carla at June 9, 2005 10:17 AM

Right there with yah. I should be doing other things but I just can't find the motivation.

If I could wish one thing into being ... I would wish for a nice screened in sun porch so I could sit outside and enjoy the quiet of the day without the worry of being carried off by mutant bugs.

Posted by: LOUP at June 9, 2005 10:31 AM

I would wish for a job. =(

Posted by: Tek at June 9, 2005 10:33 AM

unfortunately i can say i've had all too many of those kind of days...

Jessica Simpson in a giant tub of chocolate.

Lots of calories, but lots of exercise too. :D

Mental Holiday?
Hey! Where's my cabana boy?
Coconut rum, bitch.

Posted by: Jenny at June 9, 2005 11:32 AM

For you I would wish another vacation on the beach starting today.

For me, I'd wish that I was pregnant.

Posted by: donna at June 9, 2005 11:44 AM

Per the birthday wish that I just posted on my website, I would like to transform my old, trusty iBook into a speedy, updated version. :)

Posted by: Zandria at June 9, 2005 11:45 AM

another day off, at least, sleeping in the bed that i jolted out of ever so fast when i looked at the clock and realized i was already half an hour late to work. but that's just if i couldn't be laying on hammock about 20 feet from some very clear, clean greenish-blue water (yeah, you know the kind!!), white sand, yellow sand, who cares, but not the rocky sand... and trees sort of like the palm kind nearby standing next to a cabana-like bar thing from which i just got my tropical-like drink. there is the sun whcih is warm, but not hot... say in the 80's, and a clear blue sky. nearby is some music playing.. nice soft music, not too soft, but nothing heavy metal... (after all i'm relaxing here)... a good book (or two)sitting next to me...

oh i can't go on... must look at reality, but thanks!

at this time, RIGHT NOW, if I could wish anything I wanted into existence, I would wish for a walk among the stars.

Posted by: wlfldy at June 9, 2005 11:55 AM

I would wish for you to make me laugh so I could start my work day with a smile! Well, look at that! Mission accomplished. =)

Posted by: Q at June 9, 2005 11:58 AM

temperatures over 60 degrees w/no wind off the lake would do it for me today.

For you? For your boss to come in and tell you that you've been doing such an awesome job that you should go home and here's $150 to take that lovely wife of yours out to dinner. :-)

Posted by: carrster at June 9, 2005 12:06 PM

I'd wish that the laundry was in the basement sorting itself. Oh, and that I didn't forget to buy coffee.

And that all those incredibly cool compliments from those very extrememly senior bosses meant you could do no wrong today;) *This wish seems much more likely to happen!*

i wish i had an office, so i didn't have to listen to the annoying sales monkee and his slippery slick sales talk. and in this office there should be kittens. and candy.

Posted by: jodi at June 9, 2005 12:16 PM

The one wish. Hmmm. For MyBeth and I to catch a break, and have everything fall into place.

Posted by: Jason at June 9, 2005 12:26 PM

I'd wish for our financial situation to just fall in to place (instead of just falling LOL).

Posted by: Jeans Mommy at June 9, 2005 12:29 PM

Sleep.I wish for sleep...and ifyou think you are brain dead now, wait until the Bean comes. I am 2 brain cells away from 6 feet under.

And who knew Jon in Michigan was such a PERV!

Posted by: Pamalamadingdong at June 9, 2005 12:34 PM

I would wish for my whole house to be fully unpacked, painted, decorated and done up to my liking. That's a pretty tall order though. But hey... you're asking.

Oh, and I'd totally wish to speed the next 13 weeks up so that I don't have to be pregnant anymore. Pregnancy and heat waves SUCK monkey balls.

Posted by: RockStar Mommy at June 9, 2005 12:56 PM

My wish is to pass on my good fortune of having such kick ass friends to everyone. Trust me, the world would be a much, much better place.

Posted by: lu at June 9, 2005 1:00 PM

What would I wish for?

HI !! HOW ARE YOU!?!?! It's been a while!

I would wish for me and Michigan on a beach somewhere with no end date to our vacation in sight.

But for now? All I have to look forward to is the 04 July holiday off (and day after) at Dad's lake house.

Posted by: Kymmie at June 9, 2005 1:16 PM

having so much of nothing that i can't seem to even string words together to form actual sentences...

Posted by: angel at June 9, 2005 1:39 PM

It's always about job security. Which is, of course, why I ditched the job altogether to become a consultant. That's steady and secure. Seriously, it's all about being able to provide for/take care of/protect the kids. That is the wish.

Posted by: jen at June 9, 2005 1:42 PM

Umm... I'd really like to be in a hammock right now. In PEI, preferably, but some kind of peaceful anywhere would be nice.

Posted by: bmh at June 9, 2005 3:17 PM

Ah, a post about nothing, how very Seinfeld-esque! :)

My only wish today as I'm sure you can guess from viewing my post is that my daughter has a most fabulous birthday! On any other day however, the wish may be different, but always centered around the kids! :)

Happy Nothing Day to you!

Posted by: Kate at June 9, 2005 3:19 PM

Nothingness is good

Posted by: Blue at June 9, 2005 3:39 PM

I wish...

To marry my sleezy multi-wiener circus freak kamasutra act friend. LOL

Posted by: J at June 9, 2005 4:03 PM

I think I would have to be shallow and wish for money. Not too much...don't want to be greedy. How about 250K? Yeah, that sounds about right.

Posted by: Sheryl at June 9, 2005 4:12 PM

My wish- a dream job. Maybe this: Proofreader for RudeCactus @ $75K/yr. With full benefits of course. What could be better than that? I could eat and listen to music all day AND work from home!
PS Notice my grammar and spelling are exemplary. Almost always.

Posted by: Juju's Mom at June 9, 2005 4:39 PM

My wish... well I guess short of the CURE for cancer, I guess I'd wish that our Relay For Life team meets its $10,000 goal in the next week so we can help out the ACS with it's research finance needs... I've got a one track mind these days during the countdown to the Relay!

one wish...it has to be be for continued health for my family

Posted by: beautifulface at June 10, 2005 12:15 AM

My wish? That my back would stop hurting and my IBS would go away. It has been a rough week. Pout. Of course world peace and peace of mind for you too while I am at it!

Posted by: Gypsy at June 10, 2005 2:33 AM

I hope you feel better after your little break :)

One thing I wish into being.... hmmm.... okay:
I wish for all mine & Mr. Sweety's dreams to come true.

Posted by: Sweety at June 10, 2005 3:08 AM

I would wish for 70's Ron Jeremy in love with me. KIDDING! I wish you didn't HAVE to form coherent sentences, rambling is so much more fun to listen to!
