Obligatory Weekend Recap

I had a nice three-day weekend. But I don't really count it as a three-day weekend since I was hacking up a lung on Friday. It was a day of rest. Two days...three days...whichever, it went by too fast. There were Father's Day brunches, dinners and gifts. Beth bought me one of those cool pod coffee makers so I can stay highly caffeinated when The Bean decides I need to stay awake for an extended period of time starting around, say, three in the morning. There were cute cats, puppies (my brother-in-law's) and plenty of Washington Nationals gear. And there are pictures of all of these things. Of course, my home computer isn't playing nice and I haven't had time to beat it into submission.

Now, there was also some coughing complimented by liberal Nyquil usage. Oh, and Nyquil dreams, of course.

I was backstage. Someone thrust a microphone into my hands and I was immediately ushered out on stage. The arena was a lot like the senate chamber in Star Wars. Well, except there were real seats, not floaty things. No aliens either, just real people. And it was very sunny and bright. So, all in all, really not much like the senate thing in Star Wars but you get my drift. The place was nice and loud. People were excited and cheering...for me. You see, I was apparently one of the final four contestants in some American Idol-like competition. The music started and everyone shut up and looked at me. And I had no earthly idea what to do. A teleprompter sparked into life and there were the words - words to a song I'd never heard before. But I started singing, miserably, and made it through the song. Luckily, they gave me a second chance and, damnit, I blew them away! Then I got the boot.

So, what were your weekends all about?

Fixed up QuirkyBoy's room. It looks stunning, but I'm tired as hell.

Dreams can be so strange! My weirdest to date was formatted like a newscast - camera angles, voice-over and all (and pretty well done, actually). It was about the soon-to-take-place opening of a Tupperware theme park.

Yeah, I know.

Finding out how NOT one with nature I am. Apparently, you are not supposed to stand up in a canoe. And? No matter how much I try to wish it away, there is dirt on the ground outside. But I DID bring the right shoes to go hiking in. So that was a plus.

Tupperware theme park? Wow.

despite the fact that it was father's day, my weekend was all about my visiting grandmother.

I was sick with a bladder infection. It actually made me laugh because I kept thinking, "Now I know how Beth feels, getting up to pee every 15 minutes."

We also went to "Concerts in the Garden" which is a summer thing in Fort Worth -- the symphony plays and families go out and take their packed dinners. It's tons of fun to watch the kids run around. And at the end, they top it off with fireworks. :)

Pod coffee makers rock!!! I never have enough time at home in the a.m. to drink an entire pot and hubby doesn't drink coffee...and besides, I WANT IT NOW...like Veruca Salt.

And Happy Fathers' Day!

Posted by: Sue at June 20, 2005 11:52 AM

Well since you asked...

We had a leader/daughter lunch and theater production on Saturday with the girl scouts which was quite loverly and...

For Father's day, after opening presents and eating his big father's day breakfast, my husband opted for a quiet day in which we spent watching a marathon of The Shield on DVD.

Yours sounded really nice too...just think next year, this time...it's all about YOU :)

Happy Father's Day!

I spent the weekend adjusting to life after the SWEET ass time I had in Canada. *sigh* I cleaned, I hiked, I ate grilled food, I slept in, I biked, I ate ice cream. It was actually *hot* in Duluth and that rocked.

Happy Father's Day!

My weekend? Don't ask. Just cherish all the days before Bean is a teenager.

Dinner with friends, movies, lounging about and setting up an new aquarium at the house. Other people's puppies are the best kind. I prefer older dogs that no one seems to want because they aren't "cute" .. they are however housebroken and safe around stray shoes. = )

My weekend consisted of: feed, change, sleep, repeat. You're definitely goinbg to make good use of that coffee maker once the bean comes. BTW - you'll also get good at typing with one hand.

Sleep, movies and sleep. :) Batman was pretty good. So was it that Senseo (something like that) machine? It's pretty cute, I wondered how it works.

Went to visit the JuJuClan and had a delightful weekend. Went by WAY too quick.
The "pod" coffeemakers are awesome. Now they have a refillable pod you can buy to stretch your coffee-purchasing dollar and I'm guessing you could customize some coffee flavors too! Gonna get one fer shure.
And whoo-eee, can't say enough good things about Nyquil. Seriously, what is it, the burn on the way down or the later-fog? I like the burn, myself...

The man's b-day, he feels old now that's officially on the way to 30. ha... If only he knew, wait another ten years, and he'll be feeling really old.

Some scumbag danced a little two friendly, and didn't seem to get the message when I smacked him for trying to put his hand DOWN my pants. uhh no way buddy. Right up there with last weekends, "so are you going home with me or what?" pick up line.

I'm so glad I'm taken.

Then... yes, Batman in IMAX. Rockin! Followed by a trip to look at Apples and purses. Heaven on earth I tell you, heaven.on.earth.

I too had a very peculiar dream. The director was trying to give my song away to another singer, even though I'd just performed it in the same venue (same audience) two weeks earlier. And then, when I protested (I wrote the song after all, why should this girl (who seemed to be part of the VonTrapp family) get to sing it?) the music director slapped me. Twice. And for some unknown reason I couldn't slap him back. So weird.

Dinner with friends I had not seen in a long time. The weather here was amazing - cool, sunny, and NO HUMIDITY! In June! So I made the most of it. Went to the Farmer's Market, lunched outside (had the best Bloody Mary in town), lounged in the pool, ate sushi, finally saw Meet the Fockers (mediocre - I waited too long to see it), went to the zoo, did some shopping. It was an AWESOME weekend!

Hope you had a great Father's Day!

I have been wanting one of those for a while, how's the brew taste?
