At Play In The Fields of The Bored

This thing? Is great. Mia can sit here and turn all the turny things and press all the pressy things and stay entranced for, well, minutes. Me? If I have to hear the fucking banana song one more time, I might go ape-shit. But damnit she's cute, isn't she?

(See what I did there with the whole banana/ape thing?)

Yes, she is *really* cute. Nice job with the whole apeshit/banana song thing.

Posted by: jen at March 27, 2006 5:17 PM

she has a glow about her...

Posted by: jodi at March 27, 2006 5:19 PM

That you come up with but you miss the "hard out here for a pimp" reference? =)
And thanks for fulfilling the Mia quotient for today.

What the hell is that bowl thing in the middle? This contraption looks quite interesting...And possibly annoying. Good luck not breaking it "accidentally".

Posted by: Michelle at March 27, 2006 5:19 PM

Does it go B-A N-A N-A S? hee hee...just contibuting to the evilness...

Posted by: Amy at March 27, 2006 5:23 PM

Yeah, well when she gets older you'll get to hear the Dora the Explorer theme song. Or "I'm a map, I'm a map, I'm a map, I'm a MAP!" This thing? Just the beginning.

Posted by: Bethany at March 27, 2006 5:47 PM

Cute??? She's GORGEOUS! You'd better watch out there, King Kong...you've got a regular Fay Raye beauty on your hands!

Posted by: Kristen at March 27, 2006 6:07 PM

She is adorable and she looks a little disappointed that the bowl is in her way from pressing the banana. When a girl wants to press a banana THEN DO NOT STOP HER! Especially, by blocking it with some lame-o bowl.

comedy brilliance.
It's what keeps us coming back Chris...really.

Posted by: Pamalamadingdong at March 27, 2006 6:19 PM

dude, (and I know you are grateful/kidding) but if that is the source of your ape-shit-ness....you are one lucky man.

Cheers,
JJ

Agreed. Very cute.

She is just so adorable. Another awesome photo.

LOL. You are Ohhh so clever... ;-)

banana. ape. bwahahahahahahahahahahahaah

:o|

How funny, I just bought this very thing for my 5-month old yesterday. She LOVES it. She's totally obsessed with the apple though and I'm contemplating just ripping it off. "Apple. Red Apple. Smooth Apple." It's enough to give you nightmares.

Posted by: SuperMom in Training at March 27, 2006 8:52 PM

That's how you know you're a good dad. You will go crazy hearing that damn song but you continue to grit your teeth because your darling little girl is loving it. :-)

Y'all have officially created the cutest kid. Ever.

The giggle on the floor thing? Priceless.

Posted by: Emily at March 27, 2006 9:59 PM

the banana/ape was vaguely amusing, but dude... if you gotta explain it... ;)

Posted by: colleen at March 27, 2006 10:20 PM

a good blog post, but honestly, while I laughed at the banana/ape-shit thing, my favorite part is where you spelled "damnit" correctly. It's often incorrectly spelled w/ two m's, but then, that could be construed as poetic license. *shrug*

Posted by: Cassia Zoe at March 27, 2006 10:35 PM

LOL...yea I caught the ape shit/banana thing.

Our godson's 2nd birthday was on Sunday. Know what we got him? A soccer goal with an electronic device in the center of the goal that says "GOOOOAAAALLLL" when the ball hits the net or the device. He played with it for a good solid 15 minutes before Dad went to turn it off...but the birthday boy turned it back on! LMAO.

I'm sure Mom and Dad (well, more like Dad) has filed this away for future use. Payback's a bitch. LOL.

Posted by: Colleen at March 27, 2006 11:23 PM

Monkey business. All of it.

Posted by: bmh at March 28, 2006 12:03 AM

Great post and photo. I'm still laughing at Colleen's comment (should be right before this one unless someone sneaks in).

I purchased one of those popcorn push toys for each of my son's kids on the same theory. Payback. The toy stays with them - I get to go home.

Posted by: ann adams at March 28, 2006 1:13 AM

Yes. Yes. Yes! She's gorgeous. I want to cover her little cheeks with kisses.

Posted by: wordgirl at March 28, 2006 1:28 AM

Dude, that post title? Brilliant. :)

Posted by: Marilyn at March 28, 2006 2:45 AM

You? Quite clever. Mia? Uber-Cute.

Posted by: ironic1 at March 28, 2006 6:50 AM

Yes, yes, Chris, I did see. Well done.

*slow sarcastic applause*

She IS cute, though.

Posted by: Alice at March 28, 2006 7:02 AM

i caught the banana-ape thing, you didn't even have to tell me.. very good... love the photo technique too. my version of ape-shit on songs.. "square, square, squares are everywhere, can you find one?"... "everywhere you look you'll find a square" aaaaahhhh! (that's me screaming)

Posted by: Elena at March 28, 2006 7:29 AM

love the punchy color shot in that photo--she's looking less baby and more like a little girl.

Posted by: Dolly at March 28, 2006 7:55 AM

Look at those eyes! "But, Dad, I LIKE the banana song. Pleeeaaasssee?"

Posted by: Julie at March 28, 2006 11:19 AM

Those things make me want to smash my head against a wall. Sometimes we "lose" the batteries. But then all you have is a sad child who tries to make it work over and over again. And then she says, "roken" at least 60 times in two minutes.

Cute picture. :)

Posted by: Melissa at March 28, 2006 2:26 PM

i dunno, but i think mia looks really old in this picture. sometimes, when maggie was a baby, i'd see her face flash for a second here or there and she'd look older... like she does now. i know if you've ever had a similar experience. mia really is beautiful. you guys are in sooo much trouble.

Posted by: kara at March 28, 2006 3:22 PM

Dude, my little twin niece and nephew have this same toy. And although I only see them on Sunday nights-I too want to make it shut up already!! Holy crap...why do these things come with all the bell's and whistles??!!

(and does this mean that I will get this for my baby as a hand-me-down? Because I don't want the darn thing!)

Posted by: Isabel at March 28, 2006 7:13 PM

Is that an exersaucer?? Mia looks soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
adorable here!!!!
