...Callie...

Calypso, Callie, Cipster, Caliptus Rex, Callie-Alley-Oxen-Free, Cipso-Facto, Callie The Great...

...you were the sweetest animal to ever walk the earth. I really wish you'd turned out to be immortal after all. I will miss you.

I'm so so sorry, Chris. That breaks my heart to hear. I know the loss of a pet can be painful. Go ahead and let yourself be as sad as you feel. It's part of the process.

Posted by: Kristina at March 21, 2006 12:46 PM

I was just snuggling my precious 16 year old Siamese this morning not wanting to give too much thought to how thin and frail she is looking. There have been times I've felt her to be my best friend and we've been through a lot together.

I'm so terribly sorry. Losing a family pet is so hard, damnit.

Peaceful thoughts to you...

Well, on the positive note. Now Callie can play with my friend's recently departed Pepper in Kitty Heaven. A green field with trees that have tuna pieces and anchovies as leaves, whose trunks are fuzzy and fun like cat condos and whose flowers shine laser-pointer red dots back on the field for Callie to chase all day.

I was off work for two days and just got back in, feeling sorry for myself with toothache and swollen gums and other stupid, piddling problems, and after reading this feel suitably humbled and ashamed at my disgusting self pity and wallowing. I'm so sorry. It hurts so much to loose a member of the family, be it human or animal. She is in Heaven now, of course, but, of course, that is little comfort to those left behind and devastated by pain and heart break.

*Hugs* to you and Beth and Mia.

I am so sorry for your loss. We had to put our 11 year old black lab down in January. I cried the entire time at the vet and cried in the bar we went to after because we couldn't face going home. When my husband and I did go home we proceeded to drink ourselves silly. Later that same evening through our tears and beers we kept remembering the crazy little things she did and that made us smile.
