Weekend Recap: Snow, Bad Hair and Teeth

The theory of relativity is nice and all but why didn't Einstein labor to discover the scientific principle explaining why weeks seem to take forever but weekends fly? Enough of that "E=MC2" shit; give me something I can use.

check them all out at my flickr site...

Last week was tough. Mia decided she wouldn't sleep, work was hectic (the polite way to say "batshit crazy") and, overall, it just seemed as though life was trying to go much faster than my own legs would carry me. Luckily, the weekend treated us well...mostly.

On Friday afternoon, I came home early to bail out a very tired Beth who'd cried on my shoulder that morning, out of a heady combination of frustration and sleep deprivation. Mia and I, therefore, spent some wonderful quality time together while Beth napped. Lucky for us, Mia slept well on Friday night and into Saturday morning. Saturday brought a guest appearance by my brother-in-law and his wife, who are expecting their own daughter on June. They dropped by to babysit while Beth and I hit a local Japanese place for dinner. Apparently Mia behaved wonderfully. They, therefore, still have no realistic clue what they're in for. A nice frosty combination of snow, ice and rain moved in on Saturday night and Sunday leading to a nice quiet day at home. Not such a bad thing either, since we realized in the afternoon that Mia was running a little fever. More teeth, apparently. Joy of joys.

Now it's back to work and I'm pretty sure I could use a break. And there's a break in sight. Remember when I won that award? Well, we've booked the trip. Instead of taking a long hike to a far-off destination, we managed to book a nice, fancy hotel for five nights on a nice warm beach. The three of us will be headed to the boardwalk in the very early summer.

By the way, fair warning to you all. This is what can happen if you let your sleep-deprived spouse play with your hair.

Oh! Very dashing in an asymetrical kind of way....

Posted by: Wicked H at February 26, 2007 7:44 AM

Nice hair. Quite...interesting.

I especially like that silhouette photo up there. Very cool.

Glad you had a nice weekend!

Posted by: Alissa at February 26, 2007 7:48 AM

It's kind of like a devil lock... but different.

Posted by: Sarah, Goon Squad Sarah at February 26, 2007 7:53 AM

Very Squiggy look.

Posted by: William at February 26, 2007 8:07 AM

But seriously, I envy your weekend. I too got a "date" with the missus, but paid for it with my soul as the in-laws spent another weekend at our place...

Posted by: SciFi Dad at February 26, 2007 8:08 AM

That hair puts me in the mood for Count Chocula cereal.

Posted by: wordgirl at February 26, 2007 8:48 AM

Errrrmmm, I was wondering what was going on with your hair. I'm relieved to know it's not a normal style for you. :)

Posted by: Zandria at February 26, 2007 9:05 AM

i don't know...i think that extralong widows peak is quite stylin' ;P

Posted by: suze at February 26, 2007 9:22 AM

I totally love Mia's boots!

Posted by: Maribeth at February 26, 2007 9:56 AM

Well, at least she didn't give you ponytails.

Posted by: Maria at February 26, 2007 10:01 AM

Congrats on the vacation plans. Sounds wonderful.

Posted by: Brad at February 26, 2007 10:05 AM

Very nice. Occasionally, my son tries to fix his hair like this. The poor kid's mother sometimes crushes his individualism on school days. Sort of a reverse Ed Grimley, I must say.

I agree with Alissa, that silhouette is lovely.

Posted by: anna at February 26, 2007 10:20 AM

your hair is an ode to The Misfits...

p.s. THOSE BOOTS. aaaah. the cuteness.

Posted by: b. at February 26, 2007 10:45 AM

Nice giraffe.

I am the proud owner of two elephants.

Posted by: Phil at February 26, 2007 10:52 AM

mia is totally rockin' those boots :)

Posted by: ali at February 26, 2007 11:09 AM

She is just such a patootie. :) And the giraffe? I literally laughed out loud when I saw that. I keep trying to convince Chris that we need one of those--there's one that looks like a bug and its hysterical.

I don't know what everyone is talking about. I think the hair looks great! :D

Posted by: Phoenix at February 26, 2007 11:15 AM

There're only so many teeth one little girl can grow - it has to end soon. Right?

Also, I got a haircut on Friday and now have bangs that come to a point much like the one you are rocking in your Beth-styled 'do. Apparently, it is a very versatile style and we can sweep them to either side, or part them in the middle, like hip little curtains.

Posted by: Vaguely Urban at February 26, 2007 11:58 AM

You look *so* emo with that hair...hehehe

Posted by: Sparkle Pants at February 26, 2007 12:07 PM

I don't know dude, you're kinda rockin' the hair. I dig it.

Posted by: statia at February 26, 2007 12:17 PM

You look like rock-star dracula. :)

Oh the teething. And the shoulder-crying from exhaustion. What fun. Remember it passes. And Oragel. Oragel is really really good. Hang in there and hello, beach vacation!

Posted by: Bridget at February 26, 2007 12:24 PM

You look like a hippie Eddie Munster.

Dude, I am so sleepless in Los Angeles it isn't funny. Thing 2 is putting in about 6 hours per night, but not in one solid block. I feel like I'm trying to quit heroin*. Cold turkey.

*from what I've seen in movies, not experience

Posted by: whit at February 26, 2007 12:32 PM

Is Mia going on the trip, or is it adults-only?

Also, please remember that I prefer a non-smoking room with a queen-sized bed.

Posted by: Liz at February 26, 2007 12:34 PM

Your hair reminds me of Glen Danzig... except taller. I wonder what ever happened to that guy?

Posted by: Betty at February 26, 2007 12:38 PM

A nod to The Misfits?

Posted by: Melissa at February 26, 2007 2:08 PM

awwww, teething is rough. i remember those days. I never used orajel or anbesol tho, I read an article that scared the bejeezus out of me. Just a little tylenol when it was exceptionally bad, which was usually at nite. Poor kid. The sleep thing is hit and miss. My daughter is 3 and sometimes she sleeps, sometimes shes up all the time. Eventually they will be teenagers and will be sleeping all the time! Congrats on your award BTW!!....I must have missed that post. a beach vacation sounds lovely ;)

Posted by: mad mom at February 26, 2007 2:50 PM

Wow impressive.
It's a tad trying-to-be emo. Now all you need is pictures of yourself in the bathroom mirror and a myspace and you've got it down! lol

Posted by: Toni-Marie at February 26, 2007 5:03 PM

That's quite a widows peak you have kickin'. Were you bitten by a vampire over the weekend?

Posted by: Tink at February 26, 2007 5:05 PM

This is a GOOD look for you, Chris! You should wear it like that all the time! Hahahahahahahahaha! erm, do not take me seriously, please!

Posted by: Haley-O at February 26, 2007 9:17 PM

No worries man, been that way for years. Still hate math, just trying my hand at the ku.

Posted by: JackassJimmy at February 26, 2007 9:23 PM

Ooooh! Vacation-y goodness on the horizon. Nice!

Posted by: Sphincter at February 26, 2007 9:37 PM

My son would find your hair QUITE cool and stylish. (He's 4 1/2) Gosh, Mia is growing up so fast. And I LOVE your paint colors! SO pretty and fresh and fun and cheery.

Posted by: motherofbun at February 26, 2007 10:04 PM

You look like a crow :P
And that's great about the trip!

Posted by: Dee at February 27, 2007 6:57 PM

Turning rather Emo, aren't you?

Posted by: angela at February 28, 2007 8:55 AM

WHEN DID SHE GET SO BIG?! She is adorable!!!!

Posted by: Tamara the Straight Poop at March 2, 2007 7:54 PM

Posted by: Paul at July 1, 2009 9:08 PM

I will recommend not to hold back until you earn enough amount of cash to order goods! You should get the credit loans or just collateral loan and feel comfortable
