Day Off

I never get a day off or at least a day off on which my company is closed and I don't have to worry about missing some critical email or phone call. Today, however, is one of those days. Im not working and work wouldn't be there even if I wanted it to be. So I'm taking that as something of a sign and taking the day off entirely - professionally and personally.

And it's well-deserved since my kids didn't make it to bed until 10:30 last night because of the hot live fireworks action we checked out and which Owen described as big bright cool loud and my think scary scary scary.

Me, I'm off to the pool. Now that's how you spend a Monday.

We shared KFC with fresh garden corn, tomatoes, etc. with our friend's family and then had safe and sane fireworks (legal here and our town canceled its fireworks display for economic reasons) in our driveway. Before that, we watched fireworks and the concert from Washington, DC. Afterward, I watched the NY display and then Boston. Usually the local channel shows San Francisco but not this year.

I would rather think about purple mountain's majesty and amber waves than the rocket's red glare but for some reason I've always loved the huge fireworks displays. Some of us never grow up.

Enjoy your day.

Happy belated Independance Day!

I imagine DC has the best fire works ever! Do you go to the big show or see something local?
