God Gave Rock And Roll To You

Getting Owen dressed in the morning is usually something of an adventure. He asks me to pick something for him to wear, I inevitably pick wrong, and he gets cranky. Or I ask him to pick what he wants to wear (because I inevitably pick wrong) and he gets cranky. Plus, he just likes to be naked. But sometimes it's just plain confusing.

Owen: I want the birthday party everyday shirt.
Me: What?
Owen: The birthday party everyday shirt.
Me: The what shirt? Birthday party?
Owen: Yeah. Birthday party everyday.
Me: I don't get it. You don't have a birthday party shirt.
Owen: Birthday party everyday!
Me: Still, not getting it.
Owen: Rock and roll!
Me: I wanna rock and roll all night and party everyday?
Owen: Yes!
Me: Oh, you want your Kiss shirt?!
Owen: Yep!
Me: Okay, cool. I can do that.

Yeah, my kid has a Kiss shirt. Owen rocks. Literally and figuratively rocks.

My son has sported a Skid Row onesie, a Beatles shirt, and a Rolling Stones shirt. Last night at my recital he wore his "My Mom Rocks" shirt. He also had one that said "I wanna be rocked", and "learned to rock before I could walk", and "Mommy's Rock Star". I will buy any rock-related shirt in his size. :-)

Ha, good one Owen! My little brother thought the line was PART "OF" EVERYDAY (because even rock stars need a rest)...til he was far too old (okay, 34).

This is, without a doubt, the COOLEST post I have read in WEEKS. Owen rocks, indeed.

That is awesome. I love the seemingly odd connections that kids make! That's why I love children and work with them every day! Thanks for sharing. :o)

Dammit. I looked up all the shirts I could find for Owen and posted links. Got killed in your spam filter. Sigh!

We bought our daughter a "schools out" Alice Cooper shirt when we visited Phoenix. It was her FAVORITE shirt to wear to first grade.

My son (also an Owen) has a Run DMC shirt. He refers to it as "the Man shirt". Sometimes the men are even God, Jesus and some other guy.
