Dirty Fine

It's official - I'm a little bit older today. (The age, for those of you who are curious, rhymes with dirty fine.) Do I feel it? No more now than yesterday but, in general, a little, yeah. Some of it just goes with the territory. Some of it is my own damn fault.

Things having to do with age that are my own damn fault:
- The weight. I weigh more than I ever have. That's not to say I'm fat. By any measure I'm not. But still, the scale freaks me out sometimes. I blame beer. Small sacrifice.
- I ache. I've got a desk job that requires sitting for a long time. I've noticed recently that this is painful especially after long stretches. Sure, it would help if I actually exercised.

Things having to do with age over which I have no control:
- Gray hair. "Distinguished" or not, it's still gray. And getting more prevalent.
- Attitude. I was thinking back to high school the other day, specifically to how much thought everyone put into their pants. They had to be a certain brand and a certain style, often rolled up in a very certain way. Now what do I care about pants. The only thing I care about is that I don't accidentally leave home without putting on a pair.
- My memory. I used to remember everything. I never wrote anything down. Now? I, uh...what was I talking about?

Next year, on this day, I turn 40. I'm not traumatized by that thought but I am determined to make sure that 39 counts for something.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday! I will forever be Dirty Fine + (Plus). We stop counting the years after Dirty Fine... because Dorty just sounds stupid. (That, and I've found that it's more fun mentally to be Dirty Fine + than to be Dorty.)

Happy Birthday! Enjoy the last year of your dirties.

Happy Birthday! I'm still picky about jeans, but not because everybody else is wearing them. I'm picky because one certain brand seems to fit my middle-aged body better than the rest.

And really, why the hell did we think button fly jeans were a good idea in the 80s?

I just celebrated the 20th anniversary of my 29th birthday. And I don't care how grey my hair is, I am not old!

Happy Birthday! Though I am only staring down 33, I have similar observations about getting older. It's very weird. But hey, make the most of this year!

You really know you are getting older when you wake up sore just from sleeping. Not that I know anything about that! :)

Happy Birthday!!

Happy birthday! You don't look a day over 29!

Happy Birthday to you! Enjoy this year as you enjoyed all the others, and once you crest the hill into the dreaded "dorties" you will find they look a lot like your "dirties" did. (I feel in need of speech therapist right about now!).

Happy Birthday! If it makes you feel any better, I think I might have accidentally bought (and worn) mom jeans. Like, recently. And I am on the wrong side of dirty-fine for that shit.

Happy Birthday dude!! I am a little north of Dirty Fine myself, but not Nifty yet... and I had to get old-school bifocals!! I tried the new-fangled no-line dealios and they gave me motion sickness.. Makes me feel a smidge older... sigh.

Happy Birthday fellow Sagittarian! In ten days, I will hit *rhymes with sporty* and with a five year old and a two year old underfoot, it doesn't seem as old as I thought it would. Here's to dirty fine!

Happy Birthday! I turned 40 this year. It isn't as bad as I thought it would be - but it's still old. My son, Owen said I wasn't a senior citizen yet - that happens when I'm 50 according to him.

Happy birthday! You know, men get hotter as they get older (you know, to a point). I'm not a man. You have my wishes for a happy birthday, but not my sympathy.

I just turned "birdy bait" and looking forward to "dirty fine" and dorty. Weight (yes), gray (yes) aches and pains (not so much) yeah for exercise. Around 35 I started really noticing changes in my skin especially on my face and I had a moment or two, but they quickly faded as aging is as natural as breathing. I am sure that the more I change there may be more moments, but for the most part I am okay with gray, weight and laugh lines, as long is my health is good I am happy:)

Happy birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day, despite that whole "Monday" thing.

Hope you had a very Happy Birthday!

I'm 45. I don't have aches and pains. The weight gain and changes though, I could do without. I can't complain though, life is good and the alternative to growing older is kicking the bucket.

Happy birthday! Welcome to the club. I think 39 is a good place to be. Now if only it would last forever.

Happy (belated) Birthday! Enjoy Dirty Fine and don't worry about 40 - so far it seems pretty good.
