Riders On The Storm

It was a jam-packed weekend but news of that will have to wait. See, I'm expecting to lose power any second. Beds are made in the basement, tubs are full of water, non-perishable food is stocked and bottled water is everywhere. Yep, like the eastern quarter of the country, we're waiting for Sandy. The kids are home from school and I don't feel like being in a tall building when the power goes out. We're all going to have to make some compromises while we ride Sandy out. Of course I hear that when the Federal government is shut down it's okay to drink during the day. So there's that.

Wish us luck. Or at least confirm for me that that drinking thing is true.

I have been through many hurricarnes in Texas and Louisiana and I think alcohol is a must during these events.

stay safe! AND YES on the drinking. I always say prepare with having extra oatmeal and wine! That will get you thru a blizzard, power outage (hopefully not!!)etc.

The internet and blogging is cool. Last night - when discussing with my 14 year old who, of our friends, is being effected by this storm (which is very hard for desert people in Las Vegas to even fathom,) I said "and Chris and Beth with Owen and Mia." He nodded and said "that's right. They are near DC, right? I hope they are ok."

We hope you are ok, Cactus-Fish family. Our thoughts are with you. Start drinking. It's totally allowed.

Drinking sounds like a great idea. I stocked up on a Costco pumpkin pie yesterday to help me through the rain and wind.

Here in Vermont there's not a beer to be found in any store within a 50 mile radius. I think that's all the answer you need ;)
