Toilet Paper and Milk

The Weather Gurus are predicting snow. Can anyone tell me why there's always a rush on toilet paper, bread and milk? Is there some biological response to snow that I don't know about? What do the constipated and lactose intolerant people buy?

I always make a run to the liquor store!

i try to buy all the boxes of lucky charms in the store. i like to leave a nice big gap in the aisle so people walk by thinking "hmm, what am i missing that's so important?"

that and when it snows i try to drive as fast as i can ... weaving in and out of traffic. you know, just to scare the timid drivers.

yeah, i'm an ass like that.

They are all white, usually. Maybe it's a white thing...

or not :)

People are the same over here, as soon as there is a snow flake.. The last time anyone got snowed in over here was like 50 fucking years ago! Completely MAD!! It's always the oldies aswell, but I suppose they remember the times of real snow!! Lol
Ok watch me get snowed in for the whole of december with no bread, milk, or toilet paper..

This whole "stock up on TP cuz it's gonna snow" thing is very odd to me. Shit, it snowed for the first time in early October here. There has been snow on the ground for about 3 weeks, and most likely it will be here until March or April.
Now if you will excuse me, I have toys to make and deer to feed!

Hopefully Metamucil!

Seriously though, the bitch that sits next to me here at work said that her daugther was stranded in her house last weekend without power, diapers, milk or water. The shovel was buried under 10 inches of snow. So I can see on some level - but for the most part we don't live in the freakin' wilderness!

we have snow here already. have for about a week now. i hate snow. living in michigan is not good for people like me. =\

we got our biggest snowstorm last winter in the month of april. yes...april. woke up to 3+ feet of snow. and i STILL drove to work that morning. (took a while because both dave and i got stuck in our driveway...even his 4WD didn't seem to help. damn blazer. lol) but yes...i don't understand the thinking behind "ah! snow! we gotta run to the store! quick!" i just shrug it off.

Okay, I want to explain my comment since Chris pointed out it was ambiguous. I meant the items, snow, toilet paper, milk, bread, all are usually white...

What that has anything to do with is beyond me ;)I will continue to live vicariously through everyone's pictures of snow since we usually don't get much down here.

I'm with Empress! If you're gonna be trapped in your house for any amount of time, liquor is what you really need.

if it's gonna snow I stock up one one thing and one thing alone, Guinness...and I also get out my ski pass, because allI want it to do is dump snow all day long...all winter long...this is the best time of the year by far...

Here in TX, when there's any hint of bad weather, everyone stocks up on ammo.

When I lived in New York and Boston - it never happened. Snow? So what - no one freaked out or suddenly started driving like a moron.

Only in DC - the shelves will be bare. I don't understand it either.

Whenever it snows here, the only thing my mum stocks up on is bandaids since we're all immediately out skidding around in the slush & ice.

Good times. I want some snow..

The ironic thing was that I had planned to stop at the store last night long before the weather predictions - I needed milk, bread...and eggs. I was out of all three items (I have plenty of TP at home). I felt like a moron, wanted to tell everyone, "I've needed this stuff all week, I just couldn't shop before now." But would anyone believe me?
