The Danger of Bouncy Beds

In one of the comments I received about the new bedroom furniture, someone was encouraging jumping on beds. I have a warning to some of you out there - your mom was right. Don't do it. I found this out the hard way. See, what happened was I was jumping on a bed this one time and it was especially bouncy. So bouncy in fact that my head hit the ceiling. I ended up with a concussion.

Me: Well, I think I might have hurt my head and I'm kind of dizzy.
Doctor: How exactly did you hurt yourself.
Me: I hit my head on the ceiling.
Doctor: Do you mind if I ask you how?
Me: Well...uh...I was jumping up and down on the bed.
Doctor: ... ... ...

I guess it might help explain the doctor's reaction if I told you that I was 23 years old at the time.

Ha Ha. My sister (at age 7) once broke her cheek bone while jumping on the bed with our other sister (age 13). She had to wear this thing that made her look like the Phantom of the Opera. This was two years ago.

23 is plenty young enough to be jumping on beds.

*Sigh* such a spoilsport!

2 little monkeys jumping on the bed,
1 fell off and bumped his head,
Mummy called the doctor, and the doctor said
"No more monkeys Jumping on the bed"

My little munchkin likes to jump on the bed. It's hard trying to explain things to a 3 year old - but 23? Hee Hee (concussion aside). What I really want is a trampoline for my backyard so we've all got a little child left in us no matter how old we get!

Watch out for those trampolines. I broke my tailbone at 17 on one.

You should ofcourse leave the jumping on beds to the experts!!

Once? I split my lip open with my hairbrush. I was singing into it like a microphone and got a little too into my performace and whacked myself in the face with it. It bled a lot. I was 19.

Sounds like something I've done. That's just to funny. :-)

i say jump on beds anyway. it keeps you young at heart. since i am still the size of the average 12-year-old, i don't have to worry about hitting my head on the ceiling. for you, maybe you should wear a helmet or strap a pillow to your head. or perhaps put a thick layer of foam on the ceiling. or get cathedral ceilings. or... just remove the ceilings altogether.

one word: DORK!

This is why all bedrooms should have vaulted ceilings. I don't have this problem, though, I'm short, so I can jump on the bed as much as I want to.

Hm. I tell my son he can jump on the crappy bed in the guest bedroom, or on his bed (no frame, mattresses on the floor b/c he's in THAT stage), but NOT on our good/expensive bed. I'm so going to mommy jail.

*sigh* I wanted to sing the monkey song. But someone beat me to it. I guess that's what I get for sleeping in.
