Weekend? Meh.

My weekend? Not so hot. All-in-all, the gorgeous weather balanced all the bad stuff enough to make the weekend a non-event. In a word, meh.

Early (and I'm talking 1:00 AM here) on Saturday morning, I was awakened to the sound of flushing and other assorted things happening in the bathroom. My first thought? Another mouse. My second thought? Mice can't flush toilets. And if they can? Not something I want to deal with unless heavily armed and more awake. As it turned out, it was my wife. My wife who apparently ate something her body didn't like. At all. Beth spent Saturday and Sunday recovering while I waited on her hand and foot armed with plain pasta and saltines.

Sunday brought new tragedy. As I reported earlier one of my parents' cats died. Yesterday afternoon, shovel in hand, I arrived at their house to dig a final resting place. Of course, I had to pick a place where there was nothing but clay...and an old tree stump. I was just a couple minutes away from dynamiting the whole of their backyard when I finally broke through and had a decent size hole. The experience reassured me that my whole cremation decision is the right one. Ashes to ashes and all that.

There you have it. Next weekend? No puking or dying, okay?

I am so sorry - that is a horrible weekend. Especially for the first nice one of the year. At least now you can look forward to the coming weekend knowing it'll be better?

I'm glad Beth's feeling OK again. Food poisoning (or similar) is no fun.

Ugh. Not so nice. BUT! Beth is well again. Unfortunately - Beau had to leave us.

But the deal is this .... it was a beautiful weekend, one in which to care for those we love. Even if you can't see (right now) it as honoring Beau by burying him in the place he found most familiar and was happiest or holding your wife's hair back as she waits for her shoes to come out of her mouth as a sign of care. I would be blinded by sadness, if you ask me. Which you already indicated you were. I am sorry for that part. But happy that Beth is well.

Cheers to a new week .... *clinky clinky*

ugg. I bet Beth would have rather been fighting off a flushing rat than food poisoning. Flushing Rats. THAT would be an awesome band name...

i, for one, will try to conform
to your expectations for next weekend...

flushing rats?

Boy - not the best of weekends. I hope your wife is feeling a lot better, and your parents are OK with the cat dying. Sometimes these things hit people really hard.

Have a nice week.

Nope. Never had anyone hold my hair back while I puked. You're a prince.

No puking or dying next weekend, jeez, that's no fun! Kidding aside, I am sorry about your parent's cat. My cats are such a part of this family, it would be devastating to lose one. And I hope your poor wife is feeling better.
