Idol Songs Unsung

If the world existed solely for my own amusement, I'd really like to see the following theme nights on AI. Sadly, it doesn't so I doubt they'd see the light of day.

Death Metal Night: AI contestants sing the songs of all your favorite death, speed and thrash metal artists.

Opera Night: Enjoy your American Idol finalists singing selections from Wagner's Ring Cycle.

Washed Up Television Stars With Crappy Albums Night: Hear LaToya, Fantasia, George and the rest of the gang sing your favorite one-offs from Don Johnson, William Shatner, Bruce Willis and Eddie Murphy.

Instrumental Movie Theme Night: Watch your American Idols stand on stage backed by stunningly bad arrangements of cinematic instrumental masterpieces.

Fifteen Minutes Are Up Night: Hear the current finalists sing songs made famous by previous contestants you've probably already forgotten about.

John Stevens Night: The songs gutted by your favorite translucent crooner are brought back to life - out of tune just like you remember them.

What did I miss?

How about 'Emergency Broadcast Night' where, instead of American Idol, they show the 'Test of the Emergency Broadcast System' for an hour. It would be less painful to watch.

How about Television Show Theme Song night. I want to see Fantasia sing "The Love Boat" bahahahaha! *feh*

"Death Metal" night can be paired with "Kill the sad Mother-F-ers Night," where the audience gets to stone each one to death and we can be rid of this travesty once and for all?

I think I'll suggest the same thing to the producers of Sweden's "Fame Factory"...

;)

How about a night of "Overplayed Hits of the 70's"

followed by "Power Ballads"

and wrapped up with "Kids Songs the way Mom NEVER intended them to be"

*giggles*

New Kids on the Block Night. Make them sing every song from the "it was IN to be in a boy band back then" era.

How about a Rap night? They are already bad, let's just make it bad music and bad singers.

I like Power Ballad night, as well as Death Metal night. Plus, the TV star night? Genius, only because I would love to see one of them attempt "Party all the time".

Also, re: the world not existing for your own amusement. That is because the world already solely exists for my own amusement. Get in line, bitch.

(OK, not really, but a girl can dream, can't she?)

Also, Air Supply night.

how about "lip synching" night? then we can see how well they'll REALLY do as popstars. because if you can't lip synch properly, then you'll never make it anywhere in "the biz".

last night's show wasn't a "real" show though, was it? i was under the impression it was just a behind-the-scenes type deal. no calls, no judging ... that's why i didn't watch it.

TV commercial night? Make them sing the "double-mint" gum song.

Or howsabout Monty Python Night? "Always look on the bright side of Life?"

I want TWO:

Milli Vanilli night, ONLY if they are guest judges

El DeBarge night. They all sing "To the Beat of the Rhythm of the Night". Or did he sing any other songs they could cover?

Muzak Night! All your favorite songs bastardized, santitized and stripped of all spirit.

Oh wait, that's EVERY night on American Idol.

Posted by: Amalah at May 4, 2004 10:12 AM

polka night, definitely.

Posted by: liz at May 4, 2004 12:39 PM

How about a Foreigner night...only songs by foreigner like: You're all I AM, Blinded by Science and I Want To Know What Love Is....

or a Led Zepplin night...can you hear them singing Whole Lotta Love, Communication Breakdown and the Immigrant Song!!!!

Although I must say that Air Supply night takes the cake.

Lip-synch Night would be awesome. Also, TV Theme Song and/or Commercial Jingle Night.

Oh, Opera Night would def. bring content to my heart. I'd also like to see them polka!
