Yes, I Read That Right

Sadly, it looks like the article from CNN I cited yesterday wasn't a joke or a tragic mistake. According to NBC...

NBC teams with the creative powerhouses who brought you Shrek, along with some all-star voices, to create a computer-generated-imaging (CGI) comedy series of the highest caliber. Viewers will journey inside the lives of a pride of white lions who perform in the world-famous Siegfried and Roy show and will also explore their lush Las Vegas habitat. Voice Talent: John Goodman, Cheryl Hines, Carl Reiner, Orlando Jones, Danielle Harris, Daryl Sabara, Julian Holloway, Dave Herman.

Regardless of the fact that it lacks a certain amount (and by that I mean "all") of tact, how is that even remotely appealing or funny?

Have you ever reached a level of puzzlement so deep that you simply can NOT believe what you've just learned, even if it IS in writing before you?

What? Why? As a writer, shit like this just pisses me off. Somebody's getting paid for this?

Yeah, I was watching one of those mindless TV entertainment shows and they were talking about it. They actually have animated SiegfRoyed (a name I use for both of them). It struck me as quite bizarre.

Hey, it's by the makers of Shrek, it can't be that bad. Oh who am I kidding, it's going to suck; I'm not even going to try to watch it. I hate most modern TV shows. I'm not even going to make an attempt at "Joey" either; LeBlanc's character in Friends was my least favorite anyway.

Dude, I just got back from that "lush Las Vegas habitat." And it ain't lush. It's chain-link fence and sod that the animals rip right up. Plus the tigers just kind of lay around and drool a lot. Not very compelling TV...unless there's a weekly mauling.

You'll know what I mean when I say I am totally not grokking that.
