Midnight Brainstorm

Night two for some sleeping issues. While the night before I dreamed of axe murderers and awoke my wife by walking full steam into some furniture, last night I just couldn't get to sleep. I used the time to brainstorm some blogging ideas and I really think I was onto some good ones, some good memories that I wanted to write about...

There was the day I invented the Turbee Twist, that time I single-handedly cooked a seven course meal for seventeen UN embassadors, and the time I invented the Internet along with my cat and trusty sidekick Pixel. And I can't forget to tell you about my run-in with the famed Yeti (nice guy...little self-conscious about the hair thing) or the year I balanced the U.S. budget. Or the day I ran into that advertising exec and mentioned my idea about a little bunny who kept going and going and going... There was also that "new Coke" idea but I don't like to talk about that. And, no, contrary to popular belief, I didn't have anything to do with the hit show "Survivor." "Paradise Hotel" was mine but I don't like to talk about that either. Also, just to be clear, I told Stanley that "Eyes Wide Shut" wasn't going to work but he just went ahead anyway.

So there I was lying in bed thinking of all these things, all these great ideas. But this morning I get to work and what have I got? Nuthin'...not a damn thing. So, um, how 'bout those Mets?

You know, I think it would be nice if the entire world shut businesses down for about a week (except grocery stores, of course) and we were all able to sleep in every day. This week would not take away from our vacation time, however, and would be a bonus week. Think of how much more willing we'd all be to slave away during the rest of the year! This can only benefit the corporate world in the long run, you see....

I think we all have nights like that. Sux doesn't it?

Why is it when you are nowhere near a computer, you have all of these genius ideas for entries. Genius! Then, once you sit down to actually unleash the genius upon the world? Nothing. Grrrrr, I say. Grrrrr.

Also, sorry to hear you're having trouble sleeping. I've been sleeping like a champ - wanna switch?

You mean it really WASN'T you that created Survivor? I could have sworn that was you...

I invented post-its and the little plastic things on the end of shoelaces. No really, I did. Uh huh.

I hate that, and it happens to me a lot. My best thoughts come to me either when I'm falling asleep or when I'm in the shower. I suppose I could write down some of the ideas before going to sleep, but I never do and by morning time they are gone. I can not however write anything down while in the shower, and by the time I get dressed and off to work, those ideas are either completely gone, or I've had a few ideas and they all get clustered together. Oh well.

The next time you can't sleep? Try to trick your brain. For instance, imagine yourself on an island...

Than it's safe to tell you Paradise Hotel kept me in the house every Thursday night untill the show ended. I missed ONE episode and cried for days :)) Still hurts to talk about that. *gets another tissue and blows her nose*

I hate you. You gave ME your insomnia last night. I must have caught it over IM.

Although around 3 am? I totally realized what the meaning of life is. And I wrote it on a little Post-It on my bed. This is what the Post-It says:

Lif es grarey with loave pkys ice cream.

Hey, I LIKED Paradise Hotel!

God knows why. It was ridiculous, and even the contestants didn't know what they were playing for until the end... (and even when they did, it got really whacked when they brought ALL of the ejected contestants back)... but I had to keep watching right until the finale.

Thanks for creating it, Chris. Summer 2003 was so much nicer because of it.

As a fellow insomniac and sleep walker I sympathize with you. I usually start cleaning the house. When my husband gets up the next morning he's all- when did you clean the bathroom?

I couldn't sleep last nite as well... HATING the busted A/C and HATING the cheap landlord that just fixed it last week instead of replacing it like the repair guy said. (BTW the A/C unit is 20 years old, and no the repair guy does not sell them). Tried the window unit A/C we bought at Home Depot - blew out 2 fuses. Was that smoke in the fuse box? So slept on the couchy couch and now have the voice from hell due to fans blowing in face all night. BUT - still love your blog!

Doncha hate it when you have all of the great ideas and for whatever reason don't write them down and the next time you sit down to your computer they are all gone. I keep hoping someone will take pity on me and send me an iTalk for my lil iPod. = )

I"M the one who invented TURBEE TWIST dang it, don't be stealing my ideas!! :)

I always have my best blogging ideas either just before I go to sleep or when I'm miles away doing something else. I always forget everything before I can get to my PC. meh.
