Movie Question

I need a little bit of help here. Is Taxi Driver supposed to be a good movie? Cos I just watched it and thought it pretty much sucked. Yes, I realize that its a minor miracle that I've somehow made it 31 years without seeing it but I could easily have made it another 31 and been okay with that.

And a movie-going tip for you all - don't bother with The Forgotten. The previews looked promising, nice and creepy. The movie? It was kinda bad. And? It took the totally easy way out of what could have been a marginally interesting explanation.

The Ratings:
Taxi Driver: one.jpg
The Forgotten: two.jpg

Note: All ratings are based on the CRaSS (Cactus Ranking of Suckiness and Succulency) entertainment rating scale (TM), five cacti being a perfect score and thus deserving of your time. Low cacti ratings increase the likelihood of clear and present suckage - beware.

We don't see many movies, but I will be sure to put these two "winners" on my don't see list.

I saw Pelican Brief on TV this morning and enjoyed it - even if it is pretty old (1993). I read the book - even a little older (1992). And enjoyed it too.

ehhh I hated the Forgotten. Next time I want to see people get sucked out and put into the sky.. wait I don't want there to be a next time so whatever.

I made it 33 years before seeing Taxi Driver just a few weeks ago. I'll agree that I wasn't that impressed either.

Haven't seen The Forgotten yet, but it was pretty high on my list of "want-to-sees".

Thanks for the tips!

I had heard the the Taxi movied sucked, had no plans of seeing it.
As far as The Forgotten...you just ruined my days off!
I saw the previews and thought that it was just the creepy kind of movie for me. LOL
Oh well, too bad.
Maybe another movie.

Dig your site RC..... I liked Taxi Driver, probably for the reasons you didn't like it..... All Scorsese flicks back then were slow and raw, they won't jump out and bite you like a lot of newer movies - I do agree it's not worth all the hype - but it is entertaining. I just re-watched Raging Bull - have you seen this??

Raging Bull was good, but loooooooooong.

Btw, digging the site tweaks, Rude. Tres classy.

Oh, and I still want to eat Callie with a spoon. Think she's be all right with that?

Taxi Driver is pretty much a classic. But it's hard to see a classic today and enjoy it when all of the best parts have been borrowed and repeated so often that none of it looks original. I had the same reaction to Citizen Kane. They're always let downs now that we've seen every film that followed in their footsteps.

Not to harp on it or anything, but man, Taxi Driver is a classic!!

I haven't seen either but have always heard (although I don't know from who) that Taxi Driver was good. Hmm gotta figure out from who exactly

I never seen the movie "Taxi Driver", Chris, is it a comedy like "The Exorcist"?

I hope you had a nice weekend, Chris!

I've never seen Taxi Driver all the way through. I could never get into it. So, you're not alone there. And I've read some crap reviews for The Forgotten. Oct 29th this movie SAW is coming out, looks scary as hell. I will definitely be going to see that.

I never finished Taxi Driver either. And all the homeboys promised I'd dig it. The Forgotten actually made me jump (3 times), so I'll give it that.
