Thanksgiving (The Aftermath)

Yesterday, I couldn't believe it was already Thanksgiving. Today, I can't believe that its over!

Beth and I headed over to her parents' place yesterday afternoon for dinner with her parents (of course), her brother and his wife and my folks. And we did what any right-thinking American family would do - we ate way the hell too much and then, of course, complained about how much we ate. I'm pretty convinved Beth's mom is some sort of sorceress or something. From her moderately sized kitchen, she somehow managed to produce the largest quantity of food I think I've ever seen in one place. If my recollection is correct, we had mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, turkey, two kinds of stuffing, two types of gravy, an experimental rutabega, corn, brussles sprouts and a spinach strudle. Of course this was followed by two types of pie. Are you surprised we were all in such pain?

I hope you all had as wonderful a Thanksgiving (or, if you're not in the States, just Thursday) as we did. Now, I have to try to catch up on all my email! I've been such a slacker lately...

sounds a lot like my dinner! 2 turkeys (1 deep fried, 1 baked), mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potatoes, biscuits, green bean casserole, stuffing, ambrosia salad, fruit salad...and then there was oreo mud pie, chocolate silk pie, derby pie (a type of chocolate pecan pie), pumpkin pie, regular cheesecake, and pineapple cheesecake.

yes, i got to bring leftovers home with me. :) haha! but i, surprisingly, didn't stuff myself until i was sick. only had a piece of pumpkin pie after dinner :) go me! lol

I will be posting about my spread here in a few minutes, I tend to gag thinking about the amount of food I cooked.
Glad to hear yours was grand!
The only thing that upsets me about Thanksgiving me over is the fact that I have exactly ONE month to prepare for the big event of Christmas, and I am hyperventilating just thinking about it....*grabbing for paper sack*

Turkey? Did you say "...we had...turkey..."? What? Turkey isn't a meat anymore? Aha! Damn cheating vegetarians. I bet you did eat that squirrel.

Glad to hear you had such a great Thanksgiving! Mine was OK, considering I was far away from home andREALLY missing itthis year (breaking out into tears in the middle of dinner isn't so bad, right? RIGHT?) Haha, actually it was OK. Despite the bursts of homesickness throughout the day, I stuffed myself silly with the Thanksgiving meal I was able to conjure up, and caughta live webcast of the Macy's parade to keep my spirits up.

And now we're in the Christmas season. WOO!! More great food on the way ;)

Experimental rutebega? Hmmm... Did she use a super concoction of Miracle Grow? Sounds interesting -- I'm picturing a HUGE bowl in the middle of the table -- and a faint light radiating from the leaves...

Sounds like a great time -- now, go run around the block a few times!

Aaaaaah, the pain of eating multiple types of pie! It's the good kind of pain though. I feel you.

Dang- I wish I had that... be thankful for abundance... all we had was half a ham, potatoes (or is it potatos?), corn, and jello. woo hoo

um you know what the only things I would want right now from thanksgiving are the san francisco stuffing (yup from a box forget the brand name), the cranberry sauce (nix that and make it anything cranberry) and black olives on my fingers- is there any better way to eat them??(which I could get here but dont have in the flat)

that said I am never a thanksgiving stuffer so...
