Clocks, Self Doubt, Beef Tenderloin

I hesitate to post anything else today because I don't want anyone to forget about The Big Idea so please just whore me out to your friends when you can and don't let me lapse into self-doubt thinking its a horrible idea.

Its Monday. I'm at work. And despite working three days last week, it feels like something I haven't done for, oh, months. It doesn't help that the day started off all wrong...

You see, I'm punctual to a fault. I'm compulsively early and I hate (HATE) being late anywhere. Hell, I was right on time coming into this world...my mom ran up four flights of stairs because she couldn't wait for the elevator and had me in 20 minutes. Back to the punctuality...I had the following conversation with myself (don't be afraid...really) last night:

Me: Oh, what time's the alarm set for?
Me: Good question. I'll check!
Me: Seems to be set for 8 something.
Me: That won't do. Gotta get up and go to work in the morning.
Me: Well then, I'll change it. Hmmm....5.....30....5:30 will do it.
Me: Great! Thanks!
Me: No problem!

Then I took a shower, brushed my teeth and generally got ready for bed. Just before I climbed between the sheets, I had another little heart-to-heart with myself.

Me: Are you sure the alarm is set for the right time?
Me: Pshaw! I just did it a few minutes ago.
Me: But you know how you and I hate to be late.
Me: Yeah...but at some point you just have to trust yourself and stop obsessing about this kind of crap.
Me: You're right. I trust you...uh, me. Good night.
Me: Sweet dreams.
Me: Don't let the bed bugs bite.
Me: Shut up!
Me: No reason to be an asshole about it...

Guess what. I set the alarm for the wrong time. And, psychologically, set myself back about five years. Regardless, I got to work but I'm sure not happy about it.

And I'm hearing about the fucking beef tenderloin again. I kid you not.

HAHAHAHAHA! Work is the best..I just went back today after a long long long xmas break. Needless to say, the kids were totally psychotic. Coming down off the holiday, I guess.

LMAO!
I had trouble getting up this morning, and my alarm WAS set for the correct time. I think everyone needs a vacation from their vacation...

Good lawd! Beef tenderloin AGAIN?! That guy seriously has no life.

Oh I can so completely understand this. I'm the same way. I call it "Terminally early".

The last time I overslept was before a flight. It seems I set the alarm for PM. It didn't go off. I was in tears and hysterics the entire way to the airport.

I knew I'd still get to my intended destination. But I'd get there late. My original flight would have put me in 3 hours ahead of the people I was meeting.

And yet, I still had a fit about the fact that I'd be getting in at the same time as them. Go figure.

I take comfort in the fact that I'm not the only terminally early person out there.

LOL
I've confused myself with the "is the alarm set for the right time" conversation once or twice too...my real sin, however, is this...
Rather than hitting "snooze" when the alarm has gone off, I turn the damned thing off....leaving myself really confused, really late, and really mad at myself....um, ya.

"....how you and I hate to be late."

Oh, my, Chris. So, what did "you two" have for breakfast?

Yikes.

I am like you, an early bird. It sucks being the first one EVERYWHERE.

I am compulsively early at all times. I hate to be late with a passion. In college- if I was late for a class...i didn't go to the class at all (which probably only happened once or twice).

I am getting much better about this...but I am still a little...uptight about being late.

Another thing...I had the same conversation with myself last night...except I looked to make sure I had that pesky AM PM thing right on my alarm clock...after I had already been in bed several hours. I actually woke up worrying about being late!!!!

So, you didn't reset it the first time?

That's hilarious.

I hate the beef-tenderloin/sports people. They come over and jump into a one-sided conversation about it and act like the game last night was the most important thing in their lives. Then they go on and on about the stats of some player and compare and contrast him to another one.

My only defense is to ask "Is that hockey or basketball?".
