Housekeeping

I'm putting my blog into sweats and getting it into shape...and I need your help! So, while I'm off being all busy and stuff today - I've got a couple of meetings in DC and a happy hour tonight - there are a few things I'd like you to do...if that's alright with you.

Assignment One:
See that box over there on the right? In my "about" section? Go enter your email address! Two of the following things will happen.

- You'll receive regular updates when I post! That is, when I remember to actually send them out. So don't stop dropping by all willy-nilly.

- One randomly selected person will win a special "cactus compilation" containing a vast array of musical goodness.

-You'll be entered into a drawing to win an all-expenses paid two week trip to lower Uzbekistan, home of vast mineral and gas reserves, the shrinking Aral Sea, contaminated soil from buried nuclear processing materials and the Fergana Valley Water Park And Chemical Testing Fun-Zone.

Assignment Two:
Check out my blogroll...its over there on the right too. Don't see your site? Let me know! Don't see a site that you think I should be reading? Tell me about that too!

Um, I hope you don't mind but I don't want a update. It seems mean, but I check your site about 400 times a day already. HA!

And yeah... I'm not on your blogroll. :)

Posted by: Mary Jo at March 30, 2005 08:14 AM

I am on your blogroll (thanks!) but I, too, don't really want an email update-- I stop by frequently too, and also, my blogroll tells me when you've updated. :)

Posted by: jen at March 30, 2005 08:49 AM

Yeah, I'm good too. Blogrolling pings me, but you're pretty god about being on schedule. So I usually swing by a little after 8 every morning anyway.

Posted by: Autumn at March 30, 2005 08:58 AM

Okay, this guy's blog is fantastic. OneChildLeftBehind. Hope you enjoy it! :)

Posted by: groovebunny at March 30, 2005 09:16 AM

I use the XML thingie, so I don't need an email either :)

But I would still love the opportunity to win a "cactus compilation". Musical goodness would be most welcome.

Posted by: jen at March 30, 2005 09:31 AM

Ooo, Ooo I want that trip to Uzbekistan, you must give it to me, it's my birthday. ;P

I'm already getting the update...does that count for an entry??? :)

Posted by: Sue at March 30, 2005 09:42 AM

you need to be reading this blog.

oh, and mine. d'uh.

Posted by: marie b. at March 30, 2005 09:53 AM

Hi, Chris! You may officially retire by invite only and its alter ego, just us three. I'm feeling settled into my new home, http://threekidcircus.com/skiptomylu, and plan on sticking around there. There goes the neighborhood!

Oh, and I always think of you when I visit http://kimbofo.typepad.com. She's an awesome photographer, has lots to say about music and she has a separate book blog. Check it out!

Musical Goodness For Me! (i don't need a trip to lower uzbekistan and its contaminated soil, i live in new jersey!)

Posted by: Denise at March 30, 2005 10:36 AM

Hey I'm there on your list...woo hoo!!! You have way more reads than I do, so not too sure what site I could recommend. I added my email...did you send me one yet? how about now? now?

LOL

Posted by: Nina at March 30, 2005 10:49 AM

I entered my e-mail address in the box, but realized that I already may have been on your update list. What can I say, I'm a sucker for sweepstakes. Or I just want to get more e-mail.

Posted by: SpaceCase at March 30, 2005 11:13 AM

I've been demoted, so pardon me as I sit and sulk. Just yesterday we were friends! Ok,yes, I'm being overly dramatic here. :) Just one of those kinda days...I'm sure Ms. Fish knows what I mean.

Sure hope I win that trip to Uzbekistan...I sure could use a vacation.

Posted by: Bayou at March 30, 2005 11:45 AM

I just want that trip to Uzbekistan. I want to get away so bad, I'd even go there!

A Cactus Compilation might help me escape my dreary life, too!

Posted by: ms.quilty at March 30, 2005 11:45 AM

Even though I check your site religiously, I signed up in the hopes that I would score a Cactus Compiliation!!

Posted by: samantha at March 30, 2005 11:59 AM

I added my email only because I totally want the trip to Uzbekistan. What's better than contaminated soil? Nothing!

Posted by: Halo at March 30, 2005 12:09 PM

Long time member of the Cactus Blogroll here. Just thought since I get the notification thing from your wife's site its only fair that I get one from yours as well. Also, the trip. Frankly, I could use a vacation.

Posted by: myllissa at March 30, 2005 12:57 PM

I have a friend from Uzbekistan, but she must be from the upper parts as she's never mentioned any potential chemical testing fun. And she's got the requisite number of limbs--no more, no less.

Posted by: samantha at March 30, 2005 02:11 PM

You need to read Jay's blog! He and his wife are expecting twins in August. Just found out yesterday he's having one of each :)

eeeeyow! That is a huge blogroll!

Posted by: etherian at March 30, 2005 03:26 PM

check and check

Posted by: lizabetty at March 30, 2005 03:48 PM

Geez, that's a huge blogroll...not sure if I should suggest adding mine, but what the heck. I added my email to the notifier even though I check daily basically 'cause I want to be in on the sweepstakes!

Posted by: tone at March 30, 2005 03:59 PM

have fun cleaning up crime--I mean your blog. :-)

Posted by: Ginny at March 30, 2005 05:01 PM

i'm there (honestly, i cried when i saw i made it to the "dailies" i was so happy)!

also, a recommendation for you... Real E Fun (realefun.blogspot.com) is a great read. she's funny and honest and has great experiences to share (kind of like yourself).

also, have you read the book The Speed of Dark by Elizabeth Moon? i stumbled across it somewhere in my travels today (a description of it at least) and you came to mind (not as a high-functioning autistic but as a reader).

Posted by: monique at March 30, 2005 05:18 PM

Well, would you look at that, I'm already in the links! Thanks! :)

And since I spent the last two years in Uzbekistan as a Peace Corps volunteer, I have to say that I would love a vacation back in order to visit my friends. Although, I'm pretty certain that you couldn't see everything in two weeks. But the Fergana Valley is beautiful in the spring... and the vegetables are soooo good! Tomatoes you could eat like apples!

The Aral Sea is in the north west part. :)
And it is quite possibly the most depressing place on earth.

On the other hand, I would take the music too!

Posted by: Sepra at March 30, 2005 06:01 PM

Oooooh..a trip to Uzbekistan....I am always up for some "Chemical Testing Fun" ! Although my Tajik is a little rusty I would love to attend the annual Children's Peace & Disarmament Festival in October...after all, I strongly support the fact that disarmed children are peaceful children.
Maybe I could stay through December for the Pakhta-Bairam festival and watch a game of ylaq oyyny where the players hit a goat carcass around the field like Prince Charles playing polo.
Please pick me...pleeeeease!

Posted by: Geezitron at March 30, 2005 10:01 PM

don't need the update *but thank you* as I already visit nearly everyday. on the blogroll thing, you still have me as "wildcat's soul" at blogspot. i've changed to wildcatsong dot blogsome dot com. thanks for asking :)

Posted by: Wildcat at March 30, 2005 10:11 PM

Yo. I added my email, and I changed my home:
www.notsosouthernbelle.com
I told you I'd eventually be back!

Posted by: Raybelle at March 30, 2005 10:37 PM

I think you should link me with your title..like a marquee - Rude Cactus with guest star Mrs. Mogul. Hell I make you laugh don't I?

Posted by: mrsmogul at March 31, 2005 08:16 AM

I'm not in the links, but I've been on the email list for a week now :)

Frequent Cactus Emails :)

Posted by: judy at March 31, 2005 08:31 AM

Hmm, I did not see my site on there. But maybe that is because I don't post any more and slave away at work all the time. I'll need to change that!

Posted by: Chris at March 31, 2005 01:43 PM

i don't check the email acct where an update would go often enough for an update. and I appreciate willy-nilly. blogs are the only part of my life that GETS to be willy nilly. don't take this away from me.

and i'm not on your roll, yet you're on mine.

Posted by: colleen at March 31, 2005 06:01 PM

Yay! Uzbekistan vaca PLUS music!! Did I win?

ermm, guess not. O.k., on to the next thing.

Do you not read Dooce? At http://www.dooce.com/
She's a daily for sure.

Posted by: Sashinka at April 1, 2005 02:21 AM

I'm either mistaken or I am blatantly not on your blogroll. That's okay, I'll heal, eventually. I guess I'll just hang out over at your wife's site, since she does have me on her blogroll.

Posted by: Jazzy at April 1, 2005 10:29 AM

Oops, my mistake, I'm right ther under inspiration N-Z. Duh!
