The Only Thing Worse Would Be "The Golden Girls On Ice"

Every once in a while, you see something in the newspaper that chills you to the very core of your being. Tonight was my turn.

Posted by: Dana at August 12, 2005 07:24 PM

an evening of what?

"oh an EVENING with Bea Arthur. We must be able to do whatever we want with her for a entire evening. how nice!"

Posted by: jodi at August 12, 2005 07:25 PM

Hehe I've already ragged on Bea Arthur twice in my posts in the past two months. She's still alive and kicking!

Posted by: mrsmogul at August 12, 2005 07:31 PM

So which one chilled you?

Posted by: cassie-b at August 12, 2005 07:39 PM

yeah, but The Proclaimers are the night before!!!
(but you missed feist, too bad)

Posted by: Kathryn at August 12, 2005 07:50 PM

Chris, don't front like you're not going to see that.

Posted by: Fraulein N at August 12, 2005 09:15 PM

I would walk 500 miles ...to see Bea Arthur
(Not!) Get it?

Posted by: JuJu's Mom at August 12, 2005 09:18 PM

Good lord, the Proclaimers (add Los Lobos to that list) are STILL together?

Insane.

Posted by: sledge at August 12, 2005 09:40 PM

Slow tv night. Iew. Seriously, Chris? That could give you nightmares. Just say NO! For Mia's sake! Think of the children!

Posted by: Queen Of Ass at August 12, 2005 10:25 PM

But com'on... be fair..

I still like watching old Golden Girl reruns on lifetime...

Am I the only one?

{listens to crickets chirping}

Okay then.

Aw, c'mon Chris... imagine the wealth of stories Bea could regale! Like the time Adrienne Barbeau's big ole left boob popped out during a Maude taping... or when Bea forgot to zip her pants on the Golden Girls set and her penis fell out (and Estelle Getty laughed so hard her Depends failed)...
Good times. Good times.

everyone's already stolen the funny comments i thought of when i saw that. that's what i get for coming to the party late i guess ;)

but yes, frightning.

Posted by: suze at August 13, 2005 12:10 AM

she's (he's?) still alive??? ;)

Posted by: Dawn (webmiztris) at August 13, 2005 12:13 AM

Gee, what the hell kinda stuff would that "evening" entail? Forget it, I really don't wanna know!

Posted by: Kate at August 13, 2005 02:37 AM

Hey - Bea Arthur was always my favorite. ;)

Posted by: samantha at August 13, 2005 08:46 AM

what does she do?

hey man, you watched the Miss Teen USA Pageant, i wouldn't put it past you to go see Bea secretly and not tell us. :)

Posted by: Pinky at August 13, 2005 09:22 AM

I am in the minority that loves Bea Arthur :)

Posted by: Stephanie at August 13, 2005 10:08 AM

unrelated to ms. arthur but do you want to hear something fairly pathetic? when i woke up i felt that i'd had a dream but couldnt remember what about (aka a very annoying feeling)
so i started browsing my daily blogs, got to yours, and realized i'd dreamt that you'd made a post about something (still can't remember what) and i commented. that's all i can remember about the dream. i've become some sort of weirdo, and i felt the need to confess.

Posted by: kate at August 13, 2005 10:27 AM

Well it's better thatn some others I can think of...Liza Minnelli need I say more

Posted by: Beanhead at August 13, 2005 10:45 AM

Ha, I agree with Fraulein N - we all know you're going to go see the show. Don't lie.

Posted by: Kitty at August 13, 2005 11:58 AM

Are we sure "An Evening with Bea Arthur" isn't a new emo band???

LOL

Posted by: ::c:: at August 13, 2005 03:31 PM

Well, how about that. Riders in the Sky. Get that Mia a cac-tie and enjoy the show.

*shudder* on the BA thing.

Posted by: bhd at August 13, 2005 06:45 PM

That should be interesting to watch...lol!

Posted by: Lauren at August 13, 2005 07:32 PM

Is it wrong that I immediately heard the theme to The Golden Girls in my head upon seeing that woman's name?

Posted by: Daria at August 13, 2005 09:34 PM

I was there. It was great.

Bea Arthur starts off by coming on stage, and there's a lone chair and a table. On the table is a jar filled with like a hundred hard-boiled eggs in some kind of oil or vinegar liquid. Basically, she eats hard boiled eggs (sticks full ones in her mouth without chewing) and tells you stories about her years on The Golden Girls. But since her mouth is always filled with hard-boiled eggs, it's sort of gross.

Well, it grossed ME out.

Hey...if I were a good 40 years older, I would be so up for that party.

Posted by: Nicole at August 14, 2005 08:38 AM

oh, c'mon, why no love for bea? and yes, I still watch reruns of the golden girls.

Posted by: laura at August 15, 2005 01:40 PM

Sometimes The Birchmere really scores and sometimes, well. I mean, I've seen Aimee Mann there! Three times! And I have Michael Penn tix there too! But... Yipes.
