Rub-A-Dub-Dub

I? Was totally ready for a bath. Mia was just a tad more skeptical.

Baths aren't exactly a huge hit with some - well, one - of us. There was crying. And the occasional scream. And I'm sure having a father who can't resist tummy kissing every 2.5 seconds doesn't help. But after the bath, we relaxed while kicking back with Law & Order. Nothing soothes the savage baby like watching Briscoe and Curtis busting perps. Plus, it's educational. There are some major life lessons that can be learned from Law & Order. For instance:

1. The criminal justice system wraps up cases in around an hour, breaking occasionally for commercials.
2. Du-dunk. If you're ever just walking down the street or sitting at your desk and you hear it, you're going to end up in a world of hurt.
3. District attorneys are crotchety old white guys but their assistants are hot and leggy.
4. You can run but you can never hide from a detective crackin' wise.

And that is why L&O has been on forever, and will continue to be.

And honestly, I have a crush on that crochety old guy. Don't ask me why... it's a hold over from my misbegotten youth. :)

Elizabeth couldn't stand baths until she realized the universal truth... Splashing is not only fun, but you can share your bath with Mommy... and the rest of the bathroom.

L&O is just one of those shows that if I'm flipping through channels, and I hear that familiar theme music, I'm stuck like an addict for the rest of the show.

What no comments on those pictures!?!! You look like you're trying to convince her that yes, the bath towel does make you look like Mr. Wizard and rubber duckies are too much fun and she looks like she doesn't believe you at all.

Posted by: wlfldy at August 24, 2005 08:39 AM

Oh, the HAIR on that child!

Posted by: Alison at August 24, 2005 08:43 AM

Mia has hair like Pink circa Lady Marmalade. Figures that you would end up with an alt-rock baby.

Posted by: verucaamish at August 24, 2005 09:03 AM

She is so. freaking. cute. And I'm sure in 10 years or so she'll be grateful that you censored out her girly parts with talk of Pat Robertson...

Posted by: ~L. at August 24, 2005 09:32 AM

CUTENESS ABOUNDS! :)

Posted by: alektra at August 24, 2005 09:51 AM

I just CANNOT get over that hair!!!

Posted by: Dana at August 24, 2005 09:59 AM

You know, and all the while I was filling my son's head with crap like Baby Einstein. What was I thinking???

Posted by: Queen of Ass at August 24, 2005 09:59 AM

Dig that hair on Mia!

Posted by: Jon in Michigan at August 24, 2005 10:01 AM

What a little sweetheart! This is a blackmail pic for future boyfriends. (when she's 30.) The mohawk is priceless!

Posted by: Hazel at August 24, 2005 10:02 AM

ROFLMAO... Look at the expression on her face! What did you do to that poor child? I think that's probably what I looked like when I got my cell phone bill.

Posted by: dragonlady474 at August 24, 2005 10:09 AM

Uh yeah. Poor little Mia, being tortured in the bath. She looks so darn uncomfortable! LOL

Posted by: zanie at August 24, 2005 10:45 AM

My goodness! Mia has grown so much already! She seems very alert and curious. And that hair! Thats great. I have a niece in law that still didnt have much hair at 3 years of age!

Posted by: alfredsmom at August 24, 2005 11:01 AM

Look at those legs!! How in the world does a child so itty bitty have legs so long? She might be struttin down a runway someday...modeling her... tons of hair. BabyJuJu is still as bald as the day she arrived.

Posted by: JuJuBee at August 24, 2005 11:15 AM

Heheh Chris... Both Pictures are adorable!!! I just love the look on Mia's face... "You're gonna do WHAT?!?"

Posted by: Tammy at August 24, 2005 11:22 AM

that, my friend, is a rock n' roll baby!

my particular favorite flavor of L&O is the SVU. And it's not because I have a thing for Stabler and his tattoos, especially the ones revealed on his forearms when he rolls up his shirt sleeves and really gets down to the detective business. It's not! Shut up!

Mmmmm.... Stabler.

Posted by: jodi at August 24, 2005 11:23 AM

I prefer the Law & Order SVU or Criminal Intent over the just regular Law & Order!!

Posted by: ::c:: at August 24, 2005 11:34 AM

I find that it's hard to hide from just about anyone crackin' wise. Let alone hot and leggy assisstant district attorneys.

Posted by: j.tonic at August 24, 2005 11:34 AM

I heart Law and Order. I seriously had a breakdown when Jerry Orbach (crotchety old white guy) died. Mia? So very cute.

Posted by: Heather at August 24, 2005 11:39 AM

Priceless! I would kiss that tummy every 2.5 seconds too!

I am the only person in North America that has not seen Law & Order. I keep meaning to watch it, but the forces of the universe are conspiring to keep me in the dark. I know I am missing out.

Posted by: Ms. Q at August 24, 2005 11:42 AM

L&O is my salvation that helps me get to sleep every night (I have the DVDs). How sad am I? It'll take me six days to watch one episode because I fall asleep...

Y'know, I have taken to watching the dates when the little chimey things go off to see how long the case REALLY takes, but I can't keep up.

I am SUCH a loser.

Posted by: Bonanza Jellybean at August 24, 2005 11:53 AM

I totally love the expression on her face . . .also your mad photo shop skills . . .working, new father, and time to photo shop . . .impressive

Posted by: wavybrains at August 24, 2005 12:31 PM

Ha, that picture is priceless. I love the hair.

Posted by: A.K. at August 24, 2005 12:55 PM

you forgot to add that the crotchety old white guys get morally outraged and feel the need to do the "right thing", 'cause that happens in real life ALL THE TIME!!!! and that theme song? plays in my head whenever I send the boys off to court (like this morning) =)

Posted by: Kathryn at August 24, 2005 01:18 PM

You sure the shampoo bottle reads "Johnson & Johnson" not "Elmer's"?

Now to match the hair, you need to dress her in Hot Topic baby clothes. (http://www.hottopic.com/store/nodePage.asp?LS=0&RN=343)

Posted by: Oakley at August 24, 2005 02:33 PM

Mia's face is hilarious in this picture! I can't get over how long her legs look, too! Is she going to be 6+'? :)

Posted by: Jaime at August 24, 2005 03:29 PM

Just like playing talk radio in the background calms down holy terror Husky puppies...

Posted by: Kitty at August 24, 2005 03:40 PM

Chris, oh, Chris........

WHAT HAIR on that child! Oh, my! Something about what you eat during pregnancy directly relates to hair upon said newborn or some darn thing.....annnnyyyywwwaaayyy..........cute. Nice hairdo. Beautiful child.

I have been incommunicado due to disabling illness (Fibromyalgia) and subsequent job loss, but am at the local library to check in on all my old "friends" (or those I used to read daily at work).

So proud of you and Beth and the little, precious, soon-to-be-spoiled Mia.

God bless you all,

Julie in Florida.

Posted by: Julie at August 24, 2005 03:54 PM

I love reading about you, Beth, and Mia. You guys have such great patience!

Posted by: Jess at August 24, 2005 04:03 PM

That look on Mia's face? Priceless.

Posted by: Martha at August 24, 2005 05:20 PM

You got it pegged. and thanks for giving Mia the modesty banners. Maybe some day she'll thank you herself.

Posted by: cassie-b at August 24, 2005 06:15 PM

What a doll! Looks a little like there might of been a little bit of electrical current coursing through that bath--it's the hair, man! :-)

Posted by: Ginny at August 24, 2005 08:48 PM

i love law and order, all 35 varieties!

in other news, i LOVE her hair!!! cute, cute, cute!!! when i have a baby someday, i hope she/he has a full head of the stuff, i just love it!

Posted by: lizabetty at August 24, 2005 09:01 PM

Just as I figured... I go away and the bean is born! I missed it! Oh well, here's a late "congratulations" from me. I think that I have finally pulled myself together, so you can expect the usual visit from me now - whether you like it or not!!!

And by the way, the towel goes on her head, not yours. Perhaps that would explain the crying and the uncomfortable nakedness she was having?

Posted by: Gweny at August 24, 2005 09:09 PM

He! She looks like she wants to whup your hiney for taking her towel!

And Jack McCoy? Hottie!

Posted by: Snapper at August 25, 2005 06:06 AM

That pic is so CUTE!! And I love the sensoring across parts, when I read them I was dying hee!! I love your truths of Law and Order, and yes you are so right about them!

Posted by: Nina at August 25, 2005 06:46 AM

Next up, Law & Order - VCB (Very Cute Babies)

Stay tuned as Brisco and Curtis Bust the Grand Wizard of Bath Time!

Posted by: Elfyhubs at August 25, 2005 04:50 PM

You remind me of the Travelocity travel gnome in that picture!

Also, Mia is sporting a wicked fauxhawk. Rawk! \m/

Posted by: Rhonda at August 25, 2005 05:00 PM

Nicholas is four, bathtime is now a negotiation (Ok, bath -- but no hair washing. Hair washing but two stories.. man... learn to read already.) I look at the Huggies bath time lovin' babies and I'm pretty sure those kids are CGI.

As for gas prices... oooof... and dear old Pat what can I add, except he makes me want to introduce him to my boss. (Now that would be fun... not sure who would hate it more... ) Nice job covering the naughty bit too...

Forgive me, but she looks the littlest bit like a tiny, nude, Jewish comedian in that picture.

"So I said, what's the matzo with YOU?"

Posted by: Casey at August 25, 2005 05:58 PM

That photo of Mia cracks me up. She does not look like she is enjoying the bath at all. Love the hairdo.

Posted by: erika at August 25, 2005 08:07 PM

OH MY MY, Is it possible Mia gets more beautiful every day? Yes, I suppose so - she is gorgeous. And I'm still reeling over how beautiful your wife looked pregnant - if I could look THAT way -pregnancy would be the new 'black'!

Things are so new for you and your family do you ever ( before baby ) thought about the taking to school and sports side of growing up? Sound like fun as the 'baby' side of things?

Posted by: Starfruit at August 25, 2005 10:49 PM

Awesome pics! Great post!

Posted by: jen at August 26, 2005 09:33 AM

You are cracking me up! Yeah we all wrap things up in an hour and we all have those really cool computer DNA thingies at our desks as well so we get results in less than 30 seconds!Even while you wait on the phone! Honest we do! Smirk AND yeah, the coroner lets us know everything 10 minutes into the homicide!

Mia...cutest baby ever!!!

And what is up with Pat...he is losing it! (more than usual! Grin)
