AND BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE NUMBER FIVE

Ready for a really lame Monday-morning post? Here you go!

For some reason, I didn't get a hell of a lot of sleep last night. I woke up, oh, about every five minutes. Then, I woke up around five this morning for good. And now? I have five meetings back to back. Starting in an hour. Five hours of meetings, folks. Nothing says "welcome to the five day work-week" like five hours of meetings. Wish me luck with the whole staying awake thing.

See, I told you it would be a lame post.

I had a very similar night, and day! Thank God I am about to go home....

Dontcha hate that crap? Waking up every other 10 minutes...then you don't fall asleep until a half hour before you have to wake up!!! GRR...I hate Mondays!! Good luck with the meetings...i'd advise having some hardcore coffee to keep you going after that night of sleep!

Posted by: Michelle at September 12, 2005 09:43 AM

I don't believe I've ever had 5 meetings in one day. Hang in there.

That used to be my night EVER night, until Ambien came into my life. Now? Sunshine and roses, baby!

I'm sorry Chris. One meeting alone sucks, but five? May you have the strength to survive a shitty Monday.

I feel like I walked into a bad episode of Sesame Street. "Today's bitching is brought to you by the number 5 and the letter F" :-D

Posted by: Corinne at September 12, 2005 10:49 AM

good lord man, you've got one busy day ahead. Funny I couldn't sleep a wink at all either last night.

Something in the air.

Coffee, you need much coffee.

Posted by: Michele at September 12, 2005 11:21 AM

Oh no! Good luck staying awake :)

Posted by: Sweety at September 12, 2005 11:26 AM

You and this Monday post are both LAME ASSHATS!

Now pick yourself up, get to those meetings and throw some SPITBALLS for gawd sake. Pass some notes. Put salt in someone's coffee. Slip a porno picture into someone's PowerPoint presentation. Put a tac on someone's chair (in fact, put it on YOUR chair to wake your ASSHAT ass up!) It's the only way to survive, man. Do it.

The really sad thing is meetings always go OVER in time...so You might as well add another 10-20 minutes (x 5) to each...another 100 minutes to your day. Better get skippin'.

[btw. I love saying ASSHAT here. please don't take it personally.]

Blog on,
Sam

Seems like 5 is your number today. Hmmm, I think that means you should only work 5 hours today...

Posted by: Kitty at September 12, 2005 11:39 AM

Ah yes, Monday. It is, though, my last day at this job, and then I am off to Hawaii for 10 days, then I start my new job two days later. Whirlwind, no?
Hope your meetings just fly by!

The post did suck. I expect better from you.

And I'm with you on the sleep thing. I've been home alone for a few days and it's starting to affect me. Primarily because the dog spent the night barking at the wind and I kept imagining a serial killer or a home invasion happening and it scared the hell out of me all night and suddenly it's 6 am and I had to get up for work.

The unfortunate part is the boss is in today too.

Good luck with your boring meetings that never accomplish anything. Ever.

Maybe you need five cups of coffee.

Meetings... ahhh yes - at least you don't have to do real work today - you can just sit in the meetings and count ceiling tiles...

Posted by: Marie at September 12, 2005 12:44 PM

Must have been something in the moon, stars, air, universe b/c I am working with similar brain functioning malfunctions myself right now... and 5 minutes now... they seem like 5 hours...

I think 5 hour-long meetings have to be worse than one 5-hour meeting, which is what I have today (although, technically, it's a class, and there will be booze involved at the end of it).

Yeah... I think I win. Hope it goes well for you!

Hi there, I'm here for the first time. Like it around here :) First thing I noticed is there seems to be a cactii (?) and fish theme running in your family? O

Hope your Monday didn't suck all that much. Off to read more posts... buh- bye

i'm so out of it this morning... i can't even verbalize a comment. my first three attempts were a series of grunts.

hey... you made some blog template changes! sassy!

I feel your pain. I got to sleep around 4 and was up at 7.

I'm fighting to stay awake now.

Posted by: Allan at September 12, 2005 03:16 PM

Dude I feel your pain. My child (my almost 18 yr child) went to watch a scary movie last night and decided she was too scared to sleep in her room. She kicked me all night long and I wasn't able to sleep. I can't even take a nap as I sit right across from my Department's VP and Sr. VP. I can't concentrate and all I can do is read blogs. By the way, love yours!

Posted by: Gabster at September 12, 2005 03:35 PM

I feel for you. I was so tired that I even risked drinking a cappuccino, even though caffeine has been kicking my stomach's ass lately. It was a risk I just had to take.

Posted by: Spring at September 12, 2005 04:29 PM

You should do what I did at the last of the six meetings I was forced to sit through this morning - stand on your chair, yell "THIS SHIT IS WHACK, YO!!!!", and moonwalk across the table and out the door.

Ok, I didn't really do that. But I would have. If, you know, I was a millionare and didn't need the money my job brings in.

Posted by: Jason at September 12, 2005 04:29 PM

I can totally relate plus something terribly wrong with my sinuses!!!

You know, I never understood the whole meetings thingy, I mean what possibly can you discuss over a five hour period , and what do you thik you're gonna get done with the rest of the day? oh yeah chris, by the way you have 5 hours of meetings today and we want you to do your job with whats left of the day. Thank god I have oe boss (dad) he lines me uot for the day takes about 30 mins, " I want all this shit done today, yadda yadda yadda, now get to it", then the contractor appears with the client usually half the way throuhg my day, hope fully there arent changes, if there are , cha ching the cash register in my head starts cha chinging changes. Usually there are inane little schmegma niggly bits . Like you cant put the furnace there, the architect put it over there, oh okay. Phew narrowly avoided changing a whole rough in. I guess what i'm getting at is like other people meetings do happen but they happen for productivity or increased productivity not for meetings sakes/.....
