Friday's Strategic Plan

Nada. Zip. Zero. Nuthin'. It's rare. It doesn't happen often. But that's what I've got this morning. A big old goose egg in the blogging department. The old neurons just aren't firing this morning (if neurons actually fire - I didn't pay much attention in biology). The plus side? I'm working from home today so there are no meetings, no one to attempt to dazzle with my brilliance, no massive problems I and I alone have to solve. I do have to work on some strategic plan this morning and that could be a problem as my personal strategic plan involves the following:

1. More coffee.
2. Stay awake. Or mostly awake.
3. Change out of PJs at last possible moment.
4. More coffee.

So, how are you all this morning? Anything interesting I've missed out there?

i'm at work one hour early by my own volition. it's called temporary insanity.

more coffee is a sound plan, cap'n.

Posted by: misifoota at October 28, 2005 08:10 AM

Sounds a lot like my stratigic plan:

1. Start up computer
2. Get coffee
3. Drink coffee
4. Wait for phone calls and drink more coffee

Ah, working from home. That's all I want in life.

Well, it's not *all* I want. There's also the possibility of becoming independently wealthy that would be nice...

Posted by: Daria at October 28, 2005 08:22 AM

*sniff*

Do I smell coffee?

Mmmmmmmm.....coffee.

That's my plan for the morning, too.

Posted by: Allan at October 28, 2005 08:23 AM

Hmmm, my plan sounds similar:
1. finish third cup of coffee
2. pay attention to the kids. Or mostly pay attention to the kids.
3. comb hair and put on makeup at last possible moment.
4. videos

Hey, it's Friday!

Posted by: Kris at October 28, 2005 08:47 AM

Hm....pretty good.
Settled a case Wed. night, now have a 'free week' in my office next week (one which I had planned to spend in a hotel). Got a good performance review (and a raise) and am hosting a Heavy Metal Halloween Party on Saturday night. Nothing says badass like Metallica, Kiss and AC/DC pumpkins on your front door step.

THAT should impress the neighbors (it would impress me anyway).

That's it for now

Posted by: wn at October 28, 2005 08:49 AM

more coffee... what a wonderful sentiment!

i'm actually thinking about throwing on some pants and making a run to starbucks... i don't normally go there (i'm a diehard dunkin's addict), but they've got me hooked on their pumpkin spice lattes (psl's to those on the street).

Posted by: monique at October 28, 2005 08:50 AM

Stilllll pregnant. Due Monday. Strategic plan for today, which has been in effect all week:

Sit.
Drink water.
Ladies' Room!
Repeat until 5pm.
Go home!

Posted by: Sarah at October 28, 2005 08:53 AM

just one question: why bother changing out of pjs at all? i wouldn't. but then again, i'm one step away from being a hermit so don't listen to me.

Posted by: pea at October 28, 2005 09:16 AM

Good morning! Just kiss Mia for me!

Posted by: Amber at October 28, 2005 09:34 AM

Today I have a class at 1pm. I love Fridays. :)

Posted by: alektra at October 28, 2005 09:35 AM

Ditto on the coffee...just procrastinating here. I have to have the 6 of us, and a dog, packed and ready to go away for the weekend by 3:30. Did I mention I need to do laundry to accomplish this?

Posted by: Theresa at October 28, 2005 09:40 AM

I have my coffee this morning, too - a medium today, instead of a small. I can't believe that I only started drinking coffee a couple of years ago - all those caffeine free years, wasted. Sheesh.

Posted by: SpaceCase at October 28, 2005 09:56 AM

mmmmmmm.... coffee! Too bad all I'm stuck with is decaf *blech*
Surely there is SOMETHING to write about? Politics? Weather? Family? Your pet peeves? something, surely!!

Posted by: Corinne at October 28, 2005 10:10 AM

My personal strategic plan:
1. Eat Halloween cupcake.
2. Lay head on desk.
3. Eat Halloween cupcake.
4. Go home at 12 to move to new place.

We are having a Halloween party on our team at work today.....

Posted by: Dana at October 28, 2005 10:25 AM

yup, I'm a little out of energy today myself.

Posted by: dazeymae at October 28, 2005 10:29 AM

*yawwwwn*
Two hours of sleep last night. Today will consist of tons and tons of coffee, several moments of my head slipping out of my hand to slam onto the desk and me mumbling incoherent sentences. TFIG.

Staying in PJ's for work? So jealous of that. I think if I could work in my PJ's I would be much, much happier.

I am all alone at work today. Yea for that. So I can do pretty much anything I want. I have a list of things (of course, all NON work related).

Happy weekend.

Posted by: Isabel at October 28, 2005 10:47 AM

glad to see that I'm not the only one out there, with nothing to write about. but I might rant for a little while.

Posted by: Heather B. at October 28, 2005 10:47 AM

How is it possible for you to have a baby and have nothing to blog about? Don’tcha know that you simply post an adorable photo and you are king for the day for your followers???

Posted by: PoeticaL at October 28, 2005 11:12 AM

I'm soooo jealous. I'm taking Monday off, though. Still? My weekend will be spent studying for a couple of tests. BLEH!

Posted by: Queen of Ass at October 28, 2005 11:43 AM

I'm working from home too, but am far too busy. I have so much to do! Why am I busier than I am at actual work?

Posted by: ~L. at October 28, 2005 11:51 AM

OOh, I wish I could be in my PJ's right now. Since I started working 2 jobs, Friday is my afternoon off but I will be adopting your plan tomorrow. :)

Posted by: Carla at October 28, 2005 11:52 AM

Now do you actually do work from home at the same rate as you do at the office or do you get distracted? We have a bunch of employees that work from home THEN claim overtime and I think it's because they're crying to Oprah and Dr. Phil.

I'm not a fan of it at all because I don't think they're as productive as they could be from the office but then look how productive I am at the office. Commenting on blogs. ha.

Posted by: Grace at October 28, 2005 11:58 AM

coffee is good.

Posted by: Theresa at October 28, 2005 11:58 AM

1. try and maintain boss-like image while blowing nose
2. sneeze
3. blame husband for appearance of cold symptoms the day before major Halloween bash at friends' house who go all-out for Halloween
4. contemplate cold-themed costume

Posted by: Sue at October 28, 2005 11:59 AM

Just saying hi, since I NEVER get to chat with you anymore!

Posted by: RockStar Mommy at October 28, 2005 12:03 PM

I am almost at the end of my coffee (which, coincidentally, I initially spelled with 3 e's). And uh...it's a lovely fall day here. And...I'm wearing pink and baby blue together. And...jeans! And cute shoes.

Okay. That was boring. Have fun in your pjs! I am very jealous.

Posted by: Rhonda at October 28, 2005 12:32 PM

Mm...PJs. I'm home from job #1 (teehee) and work at the other job in a little over four hours...so I think I'll have a nice long nap. So, yknow, I *could* change into my PJs...

Posted by: Heather at October 28, 2005 12:45 PM

What have I got today? Hmmm../

Leaving for Vegas momentarily. Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds acoustic show at the Aladdin with my brother! YEAH! Back to LA at crack of dawn for USC game and Halloween parties! Let the weekend of fun commence!

Posted by: amy at October 28, 2005 01:22 PM

My plan is pretty much the same except instead of coffee it's diet pepsi.

Posted by: Carrie Jo at October 28, 2005 02:12 PM

It's afternoon already. Are you still in your PJs?

Posted by: Neil at October 28, 2005 02:42 PM

My morning started early, I had to give my brother a ride. It made me crabby. So I am hoping that means my day can end early as well.

Posted by: jodi at October 28, 2005 02:50 PM

Talking of interesting, I heard about this on the radio this morning! I'm not sure what to think...it is a hoax?

The World's First Male Pregnancy..

Posted by: Rhiannon at October 28, 2005 03:08 PM

I would say "good morning," but seeing it is afternoon for me, it has to be afternoon for you.

So Good Afternoon, and really I hope you are still in your pjs, because being in pjs all day is such a nice thing. Otherwise you've missed nothing, then again, I lead a boring life!

Posted by: ash at October 28, 2005 03:27 PM

Okay... I just clicked on Rhiannon's 'male pregnancy' link. Creepy. Very Very Creepy. Mr. Cactus - I'd LOVE to hear your comments on this one!

I hate writers block. Nothing worse than sitting there staring at a blinking cursor.
I woke up in a great mood which quickly changed when the dogs decided to act up. Then the coffee pot overflowed. Then I realized I had a splitting headache. You know it was one of those days where little things kept happening until it all seemed like one BIG thing.

Posted by: dragonlady474 at October 28, 2005 03:34 PM

Well today I have the "a potential future employer wanted to give me a writing test" flu. So I took the day off. I am also a big fat liar...

So today has been spent writing pretend strategic for pretend assignments in order to get a me a better job. Friday is lying day.

You know, I reckon I've lost a lot of my life working on strat. plans that no one ever follows. Alas... life in corporate North America.

Oh, and I decided against PJ for the test.

Posted by: Nat at October 28, 2005 03:53 PM

Mmmmm... Coffeeeee...

Posted by: Kevin at October 28, 2005 04:49 PM

Posted by: suze at October 28, 2005 09:00 PM

No, no, nothing interesting where I'm at except for a Chinese restaurant that's now closed for serving cats.

Great blog, makes me want to close the one I just opened.
