World, Slow Down!

As with most weekends, this recent one was just way too short. I could have used an extra day and, perhaps, a little more sleep (since I just noticed that I'm wearing black pants, black shoes and - oops - blue socks). I did, however, get some stuff done this weekend, including a little day in the life photo set on Saturday.

SaturDay In The Life (March 4, 2006)

Aside from the collected photographic evidence, the weekened played out the way most tend to. Although this one contained some extra-added bonus sleep deprivation. On Saturday night, after only a couple hours of sleep, Mia decided she was wide awake. Trying to entertain an infant while lulling her to sleep at 1:00 AM isn't as easy as you'd think. Last night, there was a great deal of screaming going on at around the same time. But, since I had to head into work this morning, um, I kinda let Beth deal with the consequences. I know. I'm terrible.

So that's it. Another weekend down. These weeks, and months, seem to be passing a little too quickly for my comfort. Anyone know how to slow the world down a bit?

1) Why is the enlarged version private on Flickr?
2) Chipotle... mmmm good.
3) Sorry about the lack of sleep.
4) Next weekend is supposed to be beautiful weatherwise.
5) Excited about Mia seeing the cherry blossoms?

Wasn't lame at all... Was fun, but yes, quick. Hate to tell you but the older you get, all kidding aside, the time goes faster and faster until its like a blur. I guess the only way to make it slow down is to be miserable. I'm not up for that alternative. So you just live every moment to its fullest. Have a good one, Cactus.

Love the day in life pics (might have to try this sometime) but couldn't see them very clearly... with the link to the flickr page meant to be private?

Awesome - those are great pics - it looks like you guys had a great weekend despite the lack of sleep.

As you get older, the days may drag but the years just fly. Enjoy your days now.

i really like this idea. i might have to steal it sometime. ;)

*hey, did you know on my gmail i have a folder for you and beth together? it's called "mia's parents". heh.

Hey - when you figure out how to slow the world down a bit, let me know. (Great pics, btw.)

Let's see...to slow down time...oh yeah, don't have anything meaningful in your life...no love, no children, no fulfilling work, no pleasurable hobbies, no R&R. I think it's the universe's way of making us truly value that which we love most...better pay attention, 'cause if you don't, it'll be GONE before you know it...ha!

Posted by: Marilyn at March 6, 2006 09:18 AM

I wish I did...knew how to slow down time that is :)

Posted by: christina at March 6, 2006 09:51 AM

I've been to Chipotle three times, during two visits to MN. I wait, not so patiently for their arrival in RI. I think I go to MN to vacation just cause I know I can get that burrito-y goodness in me.

Sorry about the lack of sleep.

Cheers,
JJ

Awesome pictures. You look cute 1st thing in the morning. Really.

Mia is oh so scrumptious in that winter hat, even though she looks like she's not quite sure what to think of it.

Chipotle...Mmmmmm...drool...drool...good good. I work right next door to one. Espresso/Chipotle. Is there anything better?

Happy Monday.

it seemed like a satisfying and fun weekend though. The day in the life of pictures are great. Wonderful idea!

Posted by: betty at March 6, 2006 10:47 AM

Ok, black shoes, black shirt. What you need to explain to everyone is that the blue socks are a 'coordinating statement'. Accessories are so important and especially adding the thoughtful detail of a contrasting color cornucopia. Now that's flare!
I'm so sorry, I can't see the pics and as for the flikr thing, i never get to see that... sob! (heh, and that's sob as in cry, not sob as in you son of a....)Strange, cause most of the time, i do see the pics on your page.

Posted by: wlfldy at March 6, 2006 11:19 AM

why does the weekend go so fast? That's probably why Mia won't sleep -- she's trying to squeeze as much out of the days & nights as possible.

Posted by: bad penguin at March 6, 2006 11:57 AM

Blue socks? Who owns blue socks any more these days??

Yeah. Wish I have more time in a day myself. Where has the weekend gone???

When our first daughter was born my husband was working as a carpenter in a theatre scene shop. We decided that I'd have to deal with night time wakings so that he didn't, you know, loose an arm. Worked for us... sometimes you have to let one parent take a fall so the other can keep all his or her limbs.

And there is no way to slow down time, except for at 1am when you are so tired and the baby wants to play. Then time drags on FOREVER.

Posted by: Elaine at March 6, 2006 11:59 AM

The first picture is awesome.

Posted by: Ava at March 6, 2006 01:16 PM

Um, no I don't think I know how to slow the world down. Maybe Superman can do it. Shit, anyone know where he got off to?

Great pictures by the way.

The hat! The hat pics are just so very cute.

Posted by: Melissa at March 6, 2006 01:55 PM

Ohhhhhh I don't even want to talk about this weekend...must have sleep!

Posted by: dragonlady474 at March 6, 2006 02:13 PM

Very cool pictures. I love them all put together too. What I really want to know, though, is this - is the book any good?

Posted by: Jessie at March 6, 2006 02:41 PM

MIA'S HAT!

That's the funniest hat I've ever seen. Ever.
(Remember: it's hardly cold where I live, so my funny-hat exposure is low).

The day in the life photos are fabulous!

A few weeks ago I was seriously behind in the laundry--after a few weekend trips away--and my husband was wearing white gym socks with his slacks for a day or two. Oops.

Happy Monday. :O)

Beautiful photos, except, DUDE! You need a manicure!

Posted by: Queen of Ass at March 6, 2006 02:50 PM

I love your pics. Love Chipotle. Hate Mondays. I usually have what I fondly refer to as my "Monday Morning Panic Attacks." Good times.

Posted by: DebbieDoesLife at March 6, 2006 03:30 PM

Well it looks to me that you had nice weekend, loved all the photos. That's a great idea. Mine was tragic, seriously, but I won't go there. You can read about it if you want to depress yourself. As for making the weekend last longer, the only thing I can think of work through it...that will make it drag forever! AHAHAHA! Yeah, I know, not the answer you were looking for. Have a good week.

Posted by: Kate at March 6, 2006 04:13 PM

Wow. Just wait until she hits schoolage and she's into soccer, gymnastics, girl scouts...

I know though, that you wouldn't trade these times for anything and they are good memories in the making. :)

Posted by: Colleen at March 6, 2006 04:41 PM

day in the life... what a fun idea!

Posted by: jodi at March 6, 2006 06:14 PM

Things that make time drag:

Babies who don't sleep
Conference calls
Having the stomach flu
Waiting for test results / admissions answers
Commercials before TiVo

Now, seriously? You want to use any of these to slow time down? Idon'tthinkso!

Posted by: Pammer at March 6, 2006 06:25 PM

Bah. I worked this weekend. But I'm off this coming weekend! There will be crawfish and the park and a new book to savor and the newst Harry Potter flick on DVD(which I haven't seen yet, damnit) and going garage saling, just my daughter and I. It's gonna be great!

The problem with only having one in three weekends off is that you tend to expect more from them than they can possibly deliver.

Posted by: Contary at March 6, 2006 09:47 PM

you think the weekends go by quick - wait til you turn around one day AND SHE'S TWELVE.

Posted by: kalisah at March 6, 2006 09:52 PM

Those are great! I love the Day-in-the-Life idea. If I would just get motivated, I'd do it myself. :)

Posted by: Zandria at March 6, 2006 11:11 PM

I don't know where the time has gone either...

Posted by: Lisa B at March 7, 2006 12:03 AM

Year One. Or as I used to call it: The Black Hole. The only way out is through, kiddo. Sorry the advice isn't more sage than that. As for the world slowing down...the arrival of kids in your life shows you just how fast things are really going. It's a huge perception change. Mia is now the clock by which you see what time it is for you. Okay...I heard that someplace else, but it's true for us as parents, too. Now go get some sleep.

Posted by: wordgirl at March 7, 2006 01:00 AM

Jeff A- you've made the tragic mistake of confusing Honey Bunches of Oats with Grape Nuts.

Posted by: wordgirl at March 7, 2006 01:01 AM

Oh Chris. Im guessing you normally wear matching socks? That's your problem. My socks rarely match and if they do? Its because they are both athletic ankle socks worn under knee high boots. I consider myself "fashion forward".... ;)
