Holiday Spirit

Play it, you won't regret it. It gives me goosebumps every time. Happy holidays, everyone.

The music was originally broadcast on Studio 60 put together by the folks at the Tipitina's Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping artists recover from Hurricane Katrina. Last year they raised $500,000 for new instruments alone. If you're feeling generous, you can donate to the worthy cause.

Merry Christmas to your wonderful family!

I thought the episode was just about over-the-top (Asner's speech, for example), but I wept, big wracking sobs when I heard this piece. I don't believe I've ever heard anything so achingly beautiful, so moving, so fraught with meaning, not to mention awesomely arranged.

Merry Christmas to you, Chris and Beth and Mia!

Great find. I really liked this performance when I saw it on S60.

How did you hook up the Hipcast thing? I'd love to place the player on my blog to pass it around some more.

I think I actually caught a bit of that episode. This is absolutely one of my favorite Christmas songs (I love the depressing sounding ones heh) and the arrangement and instrumentation is just stunning. Thanks for making it available for me (and those I'll totally force into doing so) to listen to again.

I love this. Sorry to hear that your Christmas wasn't what you expected, but it sounds like it was still nice. I had a great one, too. It was nice being back in Virginia for Christmas after spending the last two Christmases elsewhere. :)

I cried during that part of the show. It was just so moving. Thanks for posting it!

We saw that when it first aired on Studio 60, and the Jellyman downloaded it as soon as it was available. Sooooo beautiful.

I'm sorry to hear that Mia was sick for Christmas. I hope she's feeling better now!
